National Chung Cheng University Announced 2025 Excellent Advisor Award, Honoring Three Teachers as Strong Supporters of Students
National Chung Cheng University announced the recipients of the 2025 Academic Year University-Wide Excellent Advisor Award. This year’s honorees were Professor Hung-Yu Chu from the Department of Physics, College of Science; Professor Chiung-Chu Lin from the Department of Political Science, College of Social Sciences; and Associate Professor Ching-Yi Lai from the Department of Finance and Banking, College of Management.
The three awardees demonstrated outstanding dedication to student guidance and support. In addition to assisting students with their academic needs, they also showed deep concern for students’ daily lives, emotional well-being, and future development, serving as strong and reliable sources of support throughout their university journeys.
Professor Hung-Yu Chu, Department of Physics, College of Science
Professor Chu long upheld the spirit of care and companionship as an advisor. He placed great emphasis on students’ academic learning, adaptation to campus life, and overall physical and mental well-being. He actively sought to understand the difficulties students faced and provided concrete guidance alongside continuous support.
For students experiencing academic challenges, uncertainty in research direction, or significant pressure, Professor Chu offered patient communication and guidance, helping them rebuild confidence, improve their learning attitudes, and work steadily toward their academic goals. Beyond individual counseling, he actively organized faculty-student interactions, academic discussions, and hands-on learning activities to enhance student engagement and motivation.
Through his positive engagement with students, encouragement of self-expression, and cultivation of independent thinking and problem-solving abilities, Professor Chu fully demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and a profound passion for education.
Professor Chiung-Chu Lin, Department of Political Science, College of Social Sciences
Professor Lin devoted herself to supporting students in their academic, personal, and career development. She proactively cared for students’ learning progress and provided consultations and support through email, individual meetings, and office hours.
In addition to helping students adapt to academic research, Professor Lin worked to strengthen class cohesion by organizing faculty-student exchanges, social gatherings, and field trips, thereby enhancing interaction between faculty and students as well as peer connections.
She also provided regular academic guidance and thesis research consultations, assisting students in clarifying their research directions, completing their theses, and planning for advanced studies, employment, and internships. Her continued dedication reflected a high level of enthusiasm and responsibility in student advising.
Associate Professor Ching-Yi Lai, Department of Finance and Banking, College of Management
Associate Professor Lai consistently embraced the spirit of companionship and care, paying close attention to students’ individual differences and developmental needs. She provided timely assistance in areas including academic learning, life adjustment, emotional support, and career planning.
When students faced challenges related to family issues, higher education, employment, or interpersonal relationships, Associate Professor Lai patiently listened, followed up continuously, and offered concrete suggestions to help them build confidence and strengthen their problem-solving abilities.
She also maintained active connections with graduates, creating a long-term support network that extended beyond their time on campus. Her efforts fully demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and educational commitment as an advisor.
Through the Excellent Advisor Award, National Chung Cheng University recognized faculty members who devoted themselves to student guidance and holistic development. The achievements of this year’s awardees highlighted the important role advisors played in supporting students academically, personally, and professionally.
