2025 Outstanding TAs Announced! 19 Assistants Recognized at CCU for Excellence in Teaching Support

publish date : 2026-06-09

The Center for Teaching and Learning Development under the Office of Academic Affairs at National Chung Cheng University (CCU) held the “2025 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Recognition Ceremony and Sharing Forum” on June 4, 2026. Nineteen outstanding teaching assistants (TAs) were recognized, receiving certificates of merit and a cash prize of NT$3,000 each in appreciation of their dedication to course support, student learning assistance, and the enhancement of overall teaching quality.

The selection process was conducted in accordance with the university’s Guidelines for the Selection and Reward of Outstanding Teaching Assistants. A total of 70 TAs were nominated by various colleges and academic units. Following a comprehensive evaluation of teaching engagement, support effectiveness, professional performance, and student feedback, the selection committee chose 19 outstanding TAs.

Director Shu-Yung Wang of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development noted that all award recipients advanced through rigorous departmental, college, and university-level reviews before earning this distinction. She emphasized that TAs serve as an essential bridge between instructors and students. Beyond assisting with basic course implementation, they play a vital role in learning guidance, classroom interaction, and communication, making them indispensable partners in maintaining high-quality education. To further recognize their contributions, this year marked the first time the Outstanding TA Award was presented as a cash prize rather than a bookstore voucher, reflecting the university’s appreciation and support in a more meaningful way.

The event also featured an experience-sharing session by Mr. Po-Chun Huang from the Graduate Institute of Computer Science and Information Engineering, a recipient of the 2024 Outstanding TA Award. Huang noted that, in addition to assisting with course delivery and administrative tasks, TAs are often required to respond promptly to student inquiries and help instructors stay informed about classroom dynamics. Serving as a TA not only strengthened his professional expertise and communication skills but also enhanced his problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

The award recipients represented a wide range of academic units, including the College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Management, College of Education, College of Engineering, and the Center for General Education, demonstrating the broad, cross-disciplinary impact of the TA system. Their responsibilities included organizing instructional materials, planning course activities, providing learning support, and applying digital teaching tools. Some TAs also contributed to English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) courses, international collaborative courses, and project-based learning courses, supporting innovative teaching practices while helping students expand their learning outcomes and global perspectives.

In addition to recognizing outstanding performance, the event included a roundtable discussion that provided participating TAs with an opportunity to share firsthand experiences and observations from the classroom environment. During the exchange, TAs discussed challenges related to student mental health support, unexpected classroom situations, and academic integrity issues. These discussions highlighted how the role of TAs has evolved beyond routine course assistance to encompass communication, empathy, coordination, and adaptive problem-solving skills.

The Center for Teaching and Learning Development noted that TAs are vital partners in enhancing teaching quality and student learning outcomes. Moving forward, the center will continue to strengthen TA training and support mechanisms while providing more practice-oriented learning resources and exchange opportunities. Through these efforts, CCU aims to help TAs further develop their professional competencies and work together to create a high-quality teaching environment and a supportive learning community, reflecting the university’s commitment to teaching excellence and student success.
