Discovering CCU Through Painting: A Heartwarming Parent-Child Sketching Competition
The annual "Painting CCU" Parent-Child Sketching Competition took place at National Chung Cheng University (CCU) on the 19th, attracting numerous parents and children. The event encouraged children to observe and depict the campus landscape from different perspectives, interpreting the beauty of CCU through their paintings while planting the seeds of sustainability from a young age.
The organizers stated that this year's registration was enthusiastic, with total participants exceeding 300. Participants from the Chiayi area accounted for 60%, while about 10% came from the southern region, and others traveled from Taipei, Taichung, Changhua, and Kaohsiung. This participation record surpassed previous years, demonstrating that the event had become an important annual tradition loved by families in the Chiayi area.
CCU Secretary-General Ai-Tzu Lee pointed out that "Painting CCU" had been promoted by the Friends of CCU for many years. As the scale and enthusiasm for the event grew year by year, it not only consolidated the strength of alumni but also made the connection between the university and the local community closer. She also thanked the parents and children for their enthusiastic participation, hoping that the children had left the event with wonderful memories.
Fan Chin-Tsai, the 24th President of the Friends of CCU, expressed that CCU was known as one of the most beautiful campuses in Taiwan. He hoped that through this event, more people would visit the campus, feel the beauty of the environment, and further promote the exchange and integration between the university and the local area. He pointed out that "Painting CCU" was one of the important annual events, and its continued success relied on the team's joint investment. He also looked forward to its continuation, allowing more children to enter and learn about CCU.
The event was also supported by the Friends of CCU and several enterprises. About 30 members and corporate sponsors jointly provided 90 prizes, including board games, painting supplies, and related merchandise. The grand prizes included iPads, Apple Watches, and Xiaomi earphones, adding surprises and fun to the event.
The competition was divided into groups for kindergarten, elementary school lower grades, middle grades, upper grades, and junior high school. The top three, three excellence awards, and three honorable mentions were selected for each group. The list of winners was expected to be announced on the Friends of CCU official website and Facebook page on May 4, and the winning entries would also be published in the CCU university journal. The organizers stated that certificates and prize money would be mailed to the winners' schools by the end of May, encouraging children to continue creating through public recognition.
