Scientech Corporation Donated NT$10 Million to National Chung Cheng University to Strengthen Silicon Photonics Industry–Academia Collaboration and Cultivate Semiconductor Talent

publish date : 2026-03-17

National Chung Cheng University (CCU) held a donation ceremony on the morning of March 17 to express its gratitude to Scientech Corporation (TWSE: 3583) for a generous donation of NT$10 million. The funds supported talent development and industry-academia collaboration in silicon photonics research at the university, providing vital resources for the sustainable growth of Taiwan's semiconductor industry.

Founded in 1979, Scientech Corporation has been rooted in the semiconductor industry for over 45 years. As a leading domestic supplier of semiconductor equipment and 12-inch reclaimed wafers, the company established service locations worldwide. In recent years, Scientech actively invested in AI and advanced packaging technologies. Its wet process equipment was successfully applied to advanced packaging processes such as CoWoS, and the company was honored with the 7th "Potential Medium-sized Enterprise" award by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2024.

The donated funds were exclusively allocated to the establishment of CCU's College of Silicon Photonics and its talent cultivation programs. In response to the government's "New Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects Initiative," CCU planned to establish the world's first College of Silicon Photonics by 2030. The college aimed to cultivate 110 advanced professionals annually, including 10 doctoral students, 60 master's students, and 40 undergraduate students. It integrated interdisciplinary faculty from electrical engineering, communications, computer science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, and photonic physics. Industry experts participated in teaching, and industry-oriented practical projects were implemented to bridge the gap between the laboratory and the market.

CCU President Shaw-Jenq Tsai noted that this generous donation would help propel CCU’s research and teaching in silicon photonics to new heights.

Scientech Corporation's donation helped accelerate curriculum development, laboratory equipment installation, and industry-academia collaborative research in the silicon photonics field at CCU, with benefits expected to reach hundreds of students. As CoWoS advanced packaging technology was about to enter mass production in Chiayi, the region was poised to become a vital hub for AI chip production in Taiwan. National Chung Cheng University expressed its deepest gratitude for Scientech Corporation's generous contribution. The university continued to collaborate with industry partners to cultivate more advanced professionals who mastered key technologies, jointly driving Taiwan's semiconductor industry into a new chapter.
