International Rankings Reflected Academic Excellence: National Chung Cheng University Demonstrated Strength in Key Disciplines with Outstanding Performance in the Humanities and Social Sciences
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a leading global higher education analytics institution based in the United Kingdom, recently released the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. National Chung Cheng University (CCU) continued to demonstrate strong academic performance in the fields of the humanities and social sciences, with two subjects ranked globally, highlighting the University’s long-term commitment to the development of its distinctive academic strengths.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject covered five broad faculty areas and were evaluated based on a comprehensive set of indicators, including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, and the H-index. As one of the most influential global university ranking systems, the QS subject rankings provided a key benchmark for academic excellence worldwide. In 2026, CCU was ranked in Classics and Ancient History and Sociology, maintaining its presence in the international academic landscape.
Among these, Classics and Ancient History was ranked in the 51–150 band globally and 3rd in Taiwan, sustaining its leading position nationwide. This achievement reflected the University’s solid foundation and research capacity in the humanities. The discipline had long been dedicated to classical studies and historical research, while actively promoting international academic exchange, thereby maintaining a stable and influential presence within the global scholarly community.
In addition, Sociology was ranked in the 301–375 band globally and 10th in Taiwan, demonstrating CCU’s sustained commitment to research on social issues, public policy, and local engagement. The result also reflected the University’s continuous efforts to enhance the quality of teaching and research.
