From NCHC to Anping Old Fort: International Students Experienced Taiwan’s Technology and Culture

publish date : 2026-03-03

To broaden international students’ understanding of Taiwan’s industries and culture, the Office of International Affairs at National Chung Cheng University recently organized the “NCHC Company Visit and Tainan Anping Old Fort Cultural Exploration.” Led by the Head of the Division of International Student Affairs, Prof. Van-Linh Nguyen, the group visited the Tainan Branch of the National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC) and later explored Anping Old Fort. The program combined insights into Taiwan’s technology sector with historical and cultural experiences, which helped students gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s development.

During the visit to NCHC, several keynote talks and guided tours were arranged. Lee, PhD, introduced “NCHC Cybersecurity Response, Operations, and Network Monitoring Services,” and explained Taiwan’s mechanisms for cybersecurity incident reporting, real-time monitoring, and cross-agency collaboration. This session helped students understand how national-level network infrastructure was maintained securely and reliably.

Liu, PhD, then presented “Next-Generation Network Applications: An Introduction to Content Delivery Networks (CDN),” and outlined how distributed nodes and caching technologies improved website speed and stability, and how CDN services were applied in streaming platforms, e-commerce, and large-scale events.

In addition, Chou, PhD, introduced “Next-Generation Supercomputer Facilities and Environment” and guided students through the server room on the third floor. By observing high-performance computing systems, temperature control mechanisms, and power backup designs firsthand, students gained a clearer understanding of the crucial role supercomputers played in semiconductor research and AI computing. Through professional briefings and interactive discussions, participants developed a more comprehensive view of Taiwan’s technological strengths and future talent demands.

In the afternoon, the group visited Anping Old Fort in Tainan. With a professional guide, students explored Taiwan’s historical evolution, multicultural interactions, and maritime trade development. From the Dutch and Spanish colonial periods to modern history, on-site exploration and storytelling enabled students to appreciate Taiwan’s society and cultural heritage from multiple perspectives.

This event integrated industry exposure with cultural experience. It not only enhanced international students’ awareness of Taiwan’s technological capabilities but also strengthened their confidence in pursuing long-term development in Taiwan. The Office of International Affairs will continue to organize diverse industry visits and cultural exploration programs to deepen international students’ professional connections and local engagement.
