Embracing Hope! 2025 CCU Orienteering Orientation Event Kicks Off, Showcasing a Campus Reborn After the Disaster
A Journey of Hope After the Typhoon: The CCU Community Welcomes a New Semester Together
As the start of a new semester, National Chung Cheng University (CCU) launched a series of orientation activities to welcome the new wave of students. Among these, the 2025 CCU Campus Orienteering and Orientation Tour occurred on Friday, September 5, starting at 9:00 AM. Organized by the Office of Student Affairs and the Student Life Section, this event warmly invited CCU faculty, students, and friends of the university to embark on a meaningful campus adventure filled with exploration and challenge.
In July 2025, Typhoon Danas struck CCU heavily, toppling countless trees and damaging campus facilities. Thanks to the joint efforts of CCU faculty, students, and volunteers from all walks of life, the campus has gradually regained its vitality. This event was particularly special not only as a welcoming orientation but also as a “Campus Rebirth Tour after Disaster Reconstruction.” Participants could witness the emotional journey of CCU’s recovery from devastation to renewal, embracing the spirit of unity and hope.
The event took the form of a point-based orienteering race. Participants used maps to find checkpoints and complete check-ins. Those who finished received finisher gifts and entered a prize draw. With abundant prizes, everyone was guaranteed to win. The first 150 participants to check in would even enjoy an additional draw opportunity. Each checkpoint also featured hidden surprise gifts, encouraging participants to explore carefully and return with rewards. The Student Life Section kindly reminded participants to bring eco-friendly bags to carry home their gifts along the way.
This successful event was made possible through the generous support of the CCU Academic Foundation, Paolyta Co., Li-Wen Bookstore, and the CCU Faculty and Staff Association. It was also subsidized by the Ministry of Education’s Project for Promoting and Implementing Character Education in Universities and Colleges, which advances education on character, human rights, intellectual property, environmental awareness, campus safety, anti-drug, and anti-fraud. This ensures the event provides both recreational value and significant educational and social meaning.
