National Chung Cheng University’s "Chenbro Hall" Grand Opening: Industry-Academia Collaboration Composes a New Chapter in Sustainability
The renovation of the National Chung Cheng University (CCU) College of Management Lecture Hall was successfully completed following a donation from Chenbro Industrial Co. To commemorate this generous contribution, the lecture hall was officially renamed "Chenbro Hall" during a grand inauguration ceremony held on September 30.
The ceremony was attended by notable guests, including Chiayi City Mayor Huang Min-hui, Director of the Chiayi City Education Bureau Guo Tian-cai, Chairwoman of Chenbro Industrial Co., Ltd., Chen Mei-chi, Chairwoman of Hi-Sun Construction, Jian Li-Huan, and President of Shun Yi Enterprises Lin Wen-cun, among others. CCU faculty, staff, and students joined to witness the unveiling of this hall, which integrates sustainable principles and smart technology, highlighting the deep connection between top-tier education and corporate social responsibility.
The ceremony was hosted by CCU President Tsai Shaw-Jenq. The atmosphere was warm and solemn, with guests and student representatives gathered. In his speech, President Tsai expressed gratitude to Chairwoman Chen Mei-chi for her long-term support of CCU. He noted that the relationship began in 2022 with the "Chenbro Lecture Series," where she introduced abundant resources from the Taiwan Female Directors Association, nonprofit organizations, and the arts community. In four years, numerous CEO talks, company visits, and competitions covering topics such as management strategy, leadership, and practical business skills have attracted over 1,700 participants.
President Tsai emphasized, "Through the selfless sharing of industry leaders, we have not only expanded the international perspectives of our students but also strengthened their ability to connect theoretical knowledge with practical work experience. As a token of our gratitude for the outstanding contribution of Chenbro Industrial, we are officially renaming this lecture hall as 'Chenbro Hall,' symbolizing the ongoing commitment to education that will continue here."
The renovation of "Chenbro Hall" was a major upgrade in terms of physical infrastructure and deeply integrated with the university's core concept of promoting a "Sustainable Campus." Dean of the College of Management, Lian Ya-hui, explained that special attention was given to the functional design of the space and sustainable construction. Improvements included enhanced fire safety, smart air conditioning, a fresh air system, and barrier-free ramps. These upgrades not only improved the quality of teaching and activities but also reflected a concrete implementation of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Chairwoman Chen Mei-chi attended the ceremony, highlighting the company's strong commitment to education. She stated that Chenbro Industrial has always focused on talent development and corporate social responsibility. This collaboration was not merely financial support but a profound investment in future talent. She hoped that the improved learning environment would inspire innovative thinking and practical potential in students, realizing the social value of "connecting for the common good."
The inauguration ceremony not only symbolized the deep connection between corporate values and academic institutions but also marked a new milestone in the shared vision of knowledge transfer, educational innovation, and social sustainability. Moving forward, CCU’s College of Management and Chenbro Industrial will continue exploring opportunities for collaboration to transform "Chenbro Hall" into a top-tier platform for nurturing knowledge, responsibility, and global vision.
