Wai Sun Memorial Scholarship Ceremony Held at CCU Inspiring Students to Move Forward with Courage and Determination

National Chung Cheng University held the “Wai Sun Memorial Scholarship Award Ceremony” on the afternoon of November 13. Dr. Ho Sum Chan, the donor of the scholarship, attended the event with his wife to present the awards and encourage the seven outstanding student recipients. President Shaw-Jenq Sean Tsai also attended the ceremony to express the university’s heartfelt gratitude to the donors. He encouraged the awardees to view the scholarship as a source of strength, to continue pushing their limits, and to one day give back to society and pass on this warmth.

During the ceremony, Dr. Chan shared stories of students in remote areas of the Philippines who strive to pursue education despite difficult circumstances. He urged students to cherish every learning opportunity and to remain courageous and steadfast when facing challenges. Although the other donor, Dr. Tseng Wai Ping, Patrick, was unable to attend in person, he also conveyed his congratulations and support. Dr. Chan expressed special thanks to Vice President for International Affairs Professor Victoria Rau, Dean of the College of Science Professor Michael Chan, and Professor Kok Yong Lee from the Department of Philosophy for their support.

Following the award presentation, each scholarship recipient shared their reflections, expressing gratitude to the donors and discussing their personal growth, academic goals, and future aspirations. The ceremony concluded with warm applause and group photos, symbolizing the enduring spirit of the Wai Sun Memorial Scholarship that will continue to support students as they courageously pursue a broader and brighter future.
