On October 27, 2025, National Chung Cheng University (CCU) welcomed a delegation from the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (CTOT), led by Deputy Director Mr. Jordan Turley and Trade Commissioner Ms. Sylvia Shih.

The delegation met with Professor Victoria Rau, Vice President for International Affairs; Professor Shyh-Leh Chen, Vice President for Research and Development; Associate Professor Gina Wen-Chun Chen, Director of the Language Center; Professor Mike Cheng from the Department of Business Administration; Professor Kok Yong Lee, Director of the Divisions of International Academic Cooperation and International Development; as well as three English-Medium Instruction (EMI) assistants representing the Colleges of Science, Management, and Education. The meeting provided a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas on academic cooperation, English-taught programs, and research collaboration.

During the discussion, the CTOT representatives introduced several Canadian government scholarship programs, highlighting the Mitacs Taiwan–Canada Bilateral Talent Research and Training Program, which encourages CCU students to take part in research and training in Canada to broaden their international learning experiences.

The delegation also shared insights into Canada’s leading universities, such as the University of Alberta and the University of Toronto, well known for their AI research centers, and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), recognized for its programs in forensic investigation and aircraft maintenance engineering.

CCU’s Department of Mechanical Engineering is currently in discussion with the University of Victoria on cooperation in unmanned aerial and mechanical systems, while the College of Management has already partnered with The Goodman School of Business at Brock University.

Vice President Professor Victoria Rau expressed her appreciation for the visit, noting that Canada’s higher education system and research strengths make it a valuable partner for CCU. She added that the university looks forward to deepening collaboration and promoting meaningful academic and cultural exchange in the years ahead.

The meeting concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere, opening new possibilities for cooperation between CCU and Canadian institutions.
