Pink Wave" Sweeps CCU Campus! International Students Lead Passionate Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is not just a season for Chung Cheng University’s birthday and national holidays, it is also International Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To honor this meaningful month, a group of international students from the Educational Leadership and Management Development (ELMD) program in the College of Education voluntarily organized a vibrant "Pink Wave" flash mob on October 29 to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention among the campus community.
On the day of the event, these international students, both male and female, united in pink shirts, pink wristbands, and pink ribbon badges, transforming into health ambassadors on campus. They began at the campus Health Center by posting promotional materials, and then proceeded to high-traffic areas such as the bus stop and administration building. Holding signs and passionately chanting the slogan, "Pause for a Cause; Pink for a Purpose," they called for greater attention to the issue.
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women, and early detection through mammogram screenings can significantly improve the prognosis. Although the flash mob lasted only an hour, the students enthusiastically walked along Bauhinia Boulevard, holding their posters high to spread health awareness.
Despite their limited proficiency in Mandarin, which led them to use an English slogan, their sincere enthusiasm resonated with many passing students and local residents. The support and encouragement they received instilled a deep sense of warmth and pride in the international students. They hope this small "pink wave" of health consciousness started on campus will continue to spread, reminding all CCU staff and students to care not only about their work and studies but also about the health of themselves and their families.
