Youthful Brilliance Lights Up the Stage! The “Classic Songs of Japanese Anime” Concert by Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra Comes to Life on May 15 at the CCU Activity Center Auditorium!

Are you ready to relive the brilliance of your youth?
A vibrant celebration tailored to the new generation of university students: the “Classic Songs of Japanese Anime” concert took place on Thursday 7:00 PM, May 15, 2025, at the Student Activity Center Auditorium of National Chung Cheng University (CCU).! Organized by the CCU Library, this event featured a live performance by the renowned Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra, guest anime singer Ruka Banana, and interactive cheering segments led by student clubs. Liwen Campus Bookstore also set up a themed anime book and merchandise fair at the venue on the day of the event. A high-energy anime music party, made just for the youth, was ready!
The songs of the concert focused on the preferences among university students. The songs were chosen carefully with a selection of iconic theme songs from popular Japanese anime series such as Slam Dunk, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, and Bocchi the Rock! Under the baton of conductor Chien Sheng-Hsuan, the Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra brought the youthful spirit, adventure, and emotion of these beloved tunes to life. Special guest singer Ruka Banana performed live, evoking unforgettable memories with heartfelt and passionate melodies.
But this wasn’t just a concert where people sat and listened, it’s a fully immersive experience! In collaboration with the CCU Anime Club, the concert included an interactive cheering segment inspired by Japanese idol culture, featuring a “wotagei” glowstick performance. With fluid arcs of light and rhythmic choreography, wotagei is one of the most passionate ways to cheer for music. During intermission, the audience also received a limited number of glowsticks to wave and dance with, creating a shared resonance that flowed from the audience to the stage, an energetic blend of sight, sound, and emotion.
Since its founding in 2012, the Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra has become one of the most representative professional wind orchestras in southern Taiwan, known for its unique blend of classical and modern styles, and traditional and innovative elements. The group has earned acclaim for themed performances like KCWO Pop Festival, Japanese Anime Hits and Anime Gaku no Matsuri, Japanese Anime Symphony Concert. For this concert, popular hosts Yu Cheng-Ju (a.k.a. Camel) and Cheng Po-Jen will join forces to guide the audience through a musical journey of nostalgia and excitement across generations.
As a special thank-you for audience support, ticket holders of the “Classic Songs of Japanese Anime” concert had a chance to win admission to the Anime Gaku no Matsuri: Classic Anime Film Music Concert, performed by the Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra at the Chiayi County Performing Arts Center on May 24, continuing the magic of anime music even further!
