Floral Realm: A World of Artistry - Chung Cheng Spring Literary and Art Exhibition

At the beginning of 2024, National Chung Cheng University Library Arts and Culture Center launched a series of spring arts and cultural activities
on February 26. This exhibition will include five exhibitions, three lectures, three workshops and one concert. It is hoped that in the spring of 2024, teachers and students on campus will be able to get closer to the artistic atmosphere.

The National Chung Cheng University Arts and Culture Center announced that the first art exhibition will be "Floral Realm: A World of Artistry- Collaborative Exhibition of Floral Pressing by Masters and Students", displayed in the AV Library on the 1st floor from February 26th to April 30th. Ms. Yu-Ting Huang and her students have exhibited colorful and exquisite pressed flower art works together. Next, the "Fairy Tales Painting Forest- Su-Ling Chang’s Story Book Exhibition" started
from March 1st to May 10th in the B1 Art Gallery of the library. The exhibition will display the creations and illustrations, including themes of cats, girls, whales, flowers, and forests by Ms. Su-Ling Chang, the illustrator of the picture books. The original painting of the picture book "Sethie Hunts for a Job" will also be displayed at the same time.

Soon after spring, from May 16 to July 31, the B1 Art Gallery of the library will exhibit "Drawn by Clay- Original Intention and Wood-Fired Ceramic Exhibition". Mr. Zong-Wen Peng, a ceramic artist, presents pottery works fired with unique wood-firing techniques, showcasing blue crystal and gold and silver colors. At the same time, from May 20 to July 12, the "Life in Bamboo - Bamboo Weaving Applied Utensils Exhibition" is planned to be exhibited in cooperation with the Tiān-shè
Bamboo Weaving Development Association, Lunwei, Xikou Township, Chiayi County. The permanent exhibition "Fierce Wind, Light and Shadow; A Journey Through Time - Minxiong Old Photo Exhibition" continues to welcome visitors in the art exhibition room.

In addition to exhibitions, "Floral Realm: A World of Artistry- Opening Tea Party '' will be held on March 11. Ms. Yu-Ting Huang, a pressed flower artist, reconstructs the world she saw through simple plant materials and shows the charm of pressed flower art. The opening tea party will be hosted by Ms. Huang. There she will share the ideas and stories of creating pressed flower art over the years. An "Pressed Flower Workshop" will also be held on March 25, where Ms. Huang will teach
the students to make cloth coasters made of "pressed flowers" personally. On March 22, there will be "About My Reincarnation as an Illustrator -Picture Book Lecture and Guidance" where Ms. Su-Ling Chang will share her experiences and the realization of her dream of pursuing illustration. On May 27, there will be a "Lecture and Tour on Wood-Fired Ceramic". Ceramic artist Mr. Zong-Wen Peng will share the application of wood-fired technology in modern art and the ingenuity of combining
traditional technology with modern elements. Additionally, our residence artist, Mr. Jia-Bo Rao, will hold a "Calligraphy Workshop" on April 26.
Mr. Rao will be there to guide participants in creating lively and creative calligraphy.


In terms of dynamic performances, the Arts and Culture Center specially invited Sibongie to hold "The Drummer of the Wind God: Taiwan-Africa Integrated Concert" on May 14 this semester. The music selection for the concert was drawn from the band's albums "Those Things Africans Taught Me" and "Gentleman with No Shoes," which include newly composed songs alongside African drum beats and vibrant African dance.

To deepen the understanding of African drumming among teachers and students on campus, the Art Center will hold an "African Drumming Workshop" on May 6. Fablan Samory Toure, the leader of Sibongie with rich experience in West African drumming, will be invited to introduce African drumming to the participants. He will talk about the origin and cultural background of African drumming. Moreover, basic drumming skills will be taught so that the participants will be able to experience the
unique rhythm of African drumming.
