National Chung Cheng University Hosts Student Project Presentation for its Inter-Institutional Collaboration for Mutual Learning USR Project

National Chung Cheng University (CCU) held student project presentations for its University Social
Responsibility (USR) project: “Inter-Institutional Collaboration for Mutual Learning in Chiayi and
Yunlin County” on the 16th and 30th of January, 2024. During the events, students from Yung Ching
Senior High School in Chiayi County, Gukeng Waldorf Experimental High School, and Perpetual
Help High School in Yunlin County presented their results and achievements from their seminar and
“Inquiry and Practice” courses, demonstrating rich innovation and interdisciplinary competence.
The CCU USR team stated that one of the important goals of the Inter-Institutional Collaboration for
Mutual Learning Project was to integrate cross-curricular educational resources. Simultaneously, it
aimed to cultivate CCU master and PhD students as lecturers to deliver thematic teaching based on
their expertise and professional knowledge. The courses taught to high school students will align
with the 2019 Curriculum Guidelines, enhancing their core competencies as well as fostering a sense
of identity with CCU. Furthermore, the USR project sought to nurture local interdisciplinary talents
and promote collaboration between community high schools and higher educational institutions to
achieve mutual benefits.
Dr. Sheng-Ju Chan, principal investigator of this USR project, highlighted the project’s focus on
local practices, with a significant emphasis on collaborating with community high schools to foster
local sustainability talents. The project not only provided the students of the three schools with rich
learning experiences but also reinforced the core values of CCU. It is hoped that the teaching model
established by this USR project can continue to be promoted and implemented, opening doors to
cross-disciplinary learning for more students.
On the events of the project presentations, high school students presented their diverse seminar
results, demonstrating the knowledge and skills they acquired through the USR project. The seminar
topics ranged from multiculturalism, law, entrepreneurship, to adopting lifestyle habits, each
exhibiting breadth and width while showcasing the outcomes of the teaching provided by our CCU
master and PhD students.
The CCU USR team stated that through a collaborative learning model of mutual benefit, high
school students can deepen their understanding on various topics. At the same time, the project also
allowed CCU master and PhD students to develop teaching and multidisciplinary problem-solving
skills, while enhancing a sense of belonging to CCU. Through local implementation and close
collaboration with nearby high schools, this USR project endeavored to nurture cross-field talents
within the community, providing a new drive for local growth and development.
