Newly Elected Principal Shaw-Jenq Tsai Hopes to Guide National Chung Cheng University to new Heights

The handover ceremony for the sixth principal of CCU was held on
February 1st. The newly appointed principal, Shaw-Jenq Tsai, received
the official seal and the certificate of appointment from the former
principal, Zhang-Hua Fong, and Ministry of Education Deputy Minister,
Mon-Chi Lio. With Principal Shaw-Jenq Tsai’s appointment, CCU is also
marching toward its 35th anniversary. Principal Tsai gave his gratitude to
the selection committee and wishes to overcome all obstacles that may
appear in the next four years. He hopes to lead all faculty members and
students of CCU to the path of success and to fully express the school’s
potential.
The handover ceremony of CCU’s new principal was held in the school
auditorium’s international conference hall. Guests from the Ministry of
Education, National Science and Technology Council, Chiayi County
Government and Taiwan Comprehensive University System were also
there to congratulate Principal Tsai on the occasion. Deputy Minister Lio
from MoE mentioned, Principal Tsai has immense experience in both
academics and administration. He has set stable foundations for the
biomedical science sphere, while receiving great renown internationally
for his contribution. Deputy Minister Lio believes that, with Principal
Tsai’s expertise, he will certainly take CCU to new heights.
“Actions speak louder than words. My work starts today.” said Principal
Tsai. CCU is approaching its 35th year since establishment. In order to
nurture a school to its full potential, apart from receiving government’s
funds, support from local enterprises are just as crucial. Principal Tsai
said, it is thanks to the former principals’ efforts, CCU can be the grand
school that it is today. He promised that he will continue the sentiment
and efforts of all past principals and further improve CCU.
With Principal Tsai taking up office, CCU’s administration offices will
have new directors as well. Both Professor Sheng-Ju Chan and ShinYuan Hung were appointed to be the new vice presidents, while Professor
Ai-Tzu Li took up office as the new Secretary General. Other senior
administrators for all offices reads as following: Distinguished Professor
Chun-Ju Huang as the President for Academic Affairs, Professor LongChuan Lu as the President for Student Affairs, Zhe-You Yang as the
President for General Affairs, Professor Shyh-Leh Chen as President for
Research and Development, Professor Victoria Rau as the President for
International Affairs, Professor Rong-Guey Chang as the President for
Information Services, Professor Cheng-Shiun He as Chief Librarian,
Professor Min-Hung Teng as Director of Counseling Center, Professor
Chao-Hong Wang as Director of Environmental Protection Division,
Professor Chun-Ju Liao as Director of the Physical Education Center,
Professor Hsiao-Chien Tsui as Director of Ching-Jiang Learning Center,
Professor Ya-Hui Lee as Director of Center for General Education,
Associate Professor Wen-Chun Chen as Director of Center for Language
Studies and Professor Her-Terng Yau as Director of Advanced Institute
of Manufacturing with High-Tech Innovations.
The school pointed out that Principal Tsai excels in the medical sphere.
He has made immense contributions to the field and won many awards as
a result. Principal Tsai was once awarded with the Academic Award of
MoE, top 2% scientists national-wide, the Fuller W. Bazer SSR
International Scientist Award of the American Society for Reproductive
Medicine, the Distinguished Scientist Award of the Federation of
American Societies for Experimental Biology and Medical Science and
the Outstanding Research Award from NSTC and MoST. Apart from his
great achievements, Principal Tsai was also the Editor-in-chief and
member of the Editorial Board of numerous international journals.
Apart from Principal Tsai’s impressive achievements, he also has
substantial experiences regarding administration due to his past positions.
He was the Director General of the Department of Life Sciences in
NSTC, President of the Asian Society for Endometriosis and
Adenomyosis, President of the Chinese Physiological Society, bio
morphology and physiology research convener of NSTC and Chair
Professor of the Department of Physiology in National Cheng Kung
University. Principal Tsai is also a member of many counseling
committees for the Executive Yuan, Ministry of Education, Ministry of
Health and Welfare, Ministry of Examination, NSTC and Ministry of
Agriculture. CCU faculty said, they hope that with Principal Tsai’s great
achievements and experiences, CCU can embark on a brand new chapter
with his leadership.
