'The latest list of World’s Top 2% Scientists (2021) by Stanford University is announced. There are not only 15 scholars in National Chung Cheng University (CCU) ranked on the “career-long citation impact (1960-2021) ”, but also 11 scholars ranked on the “single-year citation impact (2021).” Specifically, in addition to those receiving both honors, there are 17 scholars in total achieving the recognition. CCU mentions that scholars from the department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Information Management, Communicational Engineering, Chemistry and Biochemistry and Computer Science and Information Engineering are on the list, which indicates that CCU has an outstanding performance in the field of intelligent grid, intelligent manufacturing, image processing, biomedical technology, and information assurance. 

The list of World’s Top 2% Scientists 2021 is announced by Stanford University in the U.S., which includes two categories: career-long citation impact (1960-2020) and single-year citation impact (2021) and is divided into 22 fields and 176 sub-discipline fields. The rankings are scored through Scopus's paper influence data, which includes the total number of citations, Hirsch h-index, Schreiber Hm-index revised by co-authors, individual author, individual or first author and the number of citations of the article by the individual, first or last author.

On the one hand, there are 15 scholars in CCU ranked on the “career-long citation impact (1960-2021). ” There are some scholars from the college of Engineering, who are Dr. Wen-Kung Chang, Dr. Yuan-Kang Wu, Dr. Wen-Nung Lie, and Dr. Tzyh-Chiang Chen in the department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Hong-Tzong Yau, and Dr. Her-Terng Yau in the department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Yung-Chih Kuo in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Dr. Ching-Wen Tang in the department of Communicational Engineering and Dr. Ren-Hung Hwang, Dr. Bang-Ye Wu, and Dr. Shao-Yu Lien in the department of Computer Science and Information Engineering. Moreover, some of the scholars from the college of Sciences, Dr. Jong-Yuh Cherng in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the college of Management, Dr. In-Long Wu, Dr. Eldon Y. L, and Dr. Wei-Yen Hsu in the department of Information Management. 

On the other hand, there are 11 scholars in CCU ranked on the “single-year citation impact (2021).” Those scholars are Dr. Wen-Kung Chang and Dr. Yuan-Kang Wu in the department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Her-Terng Yau, Dr. Kuo-En Chang, and Dr. Ping-Huan Kuo in the department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Yung-Chih Kuo in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Dr. In-Long Wu, Dr. Eldon Y. L, and Dr. Wei-Yen Hsu in the department of Information Management, Dr. Jong-Yuh Cherng in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Dr. Shao-Yu Lien in the department of Computer Science and Information Engineering. CCU Office of Research and Development mentions that there are 17 scholars in total, from the department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Information Management, Communicational Engineering, Chemistry and Biochemistry and Computer Science and Information Engineering ranked on the world’s top 2% scientists.

Dr. Hsiang-Chen Wang, the director of CCU Office of Research and Development, pointed out that CCU put more emphasis on particular research areas and interdisciplinary cooperation. It is obvious that CCU has great achievements in the field of intelligent grid, intelligent manufacturing, image processing, biomedical technology, and information assurance. Lastly, CCU expects to establish a better academic research environment and cultivate a research team with higher international competitiveness.
