National Chung Cheng University resumed its Anniversary celebration to thank alumni and enterprises for their donations to education and CCU also raised another million.

“Happy Birthday to National Chung Cheng University!” This year marks the 33rd Anniversary of National Chung Cheng University (CCU). Although affected by COVID-19 last year, the scale of the school's Anniversary celebration was reduced, but the enthusiasm of teachers, students and alumni had not diminished. As a result, CCU’s 33rd Anniversary was still full of excitement when held on 29th October. CCU not only prepared a series of activities for the school's Anniversary celebration, but also held the "Donation to Education Award Ceremony" for the third time to present certificates and medals from the Ministry of Education to thank all walks of life for their unwavering support for CCU under the pandemic in the past two years. On top of that, CCU even raised another million to continuously inject money into scholarships and grants to benefit students in their studies.

The slogan of CCU's 33rd Anniversary this year is "Chung Cheng 33, Scale New Heights.'' The school’s Anniversary began with the competition of Creative Approach, where students try to enter the field as creative as they can in order to win the prize. Thus at the opening ceremony, various units and colleges of CCU entered the field with their creativity. In addition to slogans and dances, hand-holding boards were also carefully made to offer blessings for the school's Anniversary. Among those units and colleges that participated in the competition of Creative Approach, students from the Department of Psychology representing the College of Social Sciences won third place because of their lively and uniform dance. Students from the Department of Adult and Continuing Education of the College of Education also won second place with their bucket percussion music. And the most amazing one was brought by the Association of CCU Alumni, which has been established for 20 years. They brought a glamorous dance performance and shouted their slogan, "Pursue Excellence, Surpass Ourselves, Alumni United, Thunderous, I love Chung Cheng, Create Brilliance Together." As a result, it won first place in the competition of Creative Approach!

The Torch Relay ceremony of the sports competition was completed by Yen-Chu Hong, a third-year student from the Department of Athletic Sports, and Dong-Yang Li, a freshman also from the Department of Athletic Sports. The Athletes Oath was completed by Pei-Yi Lin, who is from the Department of Criminology. CCU stated that the three students all performed well in school. Not only was Yen-Chu Hong selected as a member of the Women's Beach Volleyball training team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but also Li Dong yang was selected for the National Youth Team of the Asian Orienteering Championships, and the National Team of the Asian Junior and Youth Orienteering Championships. And Pei-Yi Lin won the gold medal for the first weight class (weight below 50kg) in karate at the National Intercollegiate Athletic Games last year. At that time, she also led the team as the captain to win first place in the women's team championship and second place in the men's team championship in karate events.

“This is a day of thanksgiving, thank you for your strong support and selfless dedication,” Dr. Zhang-Hua Fong, CCU president said. He also said, “This year is the third time to hold the Donation to Education Award Ceremony, and during the difficult times of the pandemic in the past two years, I would like to thank all sectors of society for their continuous donations of more than NT$50 million.” Chia-Heng Ho, the mayor of Minxiong Township, Chiayi County, was also invited to participate in today's ceremony. Chia-Heng Ho said that education is like a Chinese proverb which says it takes ten years to nurture a tree, but a hundred years to train a person. As a result, supporting education is a very meaningful start. He also said that, "Whenever being asked where I am the mayor of the township, I always say that I am the mayor of National Chung Cheng University, so the whole country, Chiayi City or Chiayi County and even Minxiong township are proud of CCU.”

CCU pointed out that according to the Ministry of Education’s Reward Regulations for donations to Education, a total of 73 people received certificates of merits and medals from the Ministry of Education in 2010 and 2011. At the ceremony today, nearly 40 donors came to receive the awards. They were awarded certificates of merits and silver medals for their donations of more than NT$100,000 and NT$1 million, respectively. The National Chung Cheng University Academic Foundation was also awarded a gold medal for its cumulative donation of more than NT$5 million. In addition, CCU also held a school Anniversary celebration dinner party at the same time, inviting enterprises, Association of CCU Alumni, Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung alumni associations, EMBA Associations, and various departments and graduate schools to raise donations, and raised more than NT$1 million in scholarships and grants.

The evening of the 29th came to the climax of CCU's Anniversary celebration. In addition to awarding the winners of various sport competitions and creative cheerleading teams, after the wonderful performance brought by the student club, CCUFD (Fire Dance), the theme fireworks show that everyone was looking forward to was even more grand. In the cheers, everyone wished CCU to continue to scale new heights!
