Rotary International District 3470 launched the "Music for Life Service Project," joining hands with the Chiayi County Government, National Chung Cheng University (CCU), Chiayi Sunshine Rotary Club, and the Xingang Loving Hometown Charity Association. Co-organized and sponsored by nine partner Rotary clubs across Chiayi, the Minxiong Township Office, and the Greater Chiayi Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association, the "Rose Tomb Band - Music for Life Rock Concert" took place at the CCU Auditorium this afternoon (September 30). Led by Dr. Shih-Yang Su, the Rose Tomb Band integrated real emergency room experiences with electrifying rock music to deliver crucial messages on drug prevention, anti-bullying, and reverence for life to adolescents.

The event welcomed faculty and students from Chiayi County Minxiong Junior High School, Dalin Junior High School, and Daji Junior High School, alongside parents and community members who enjoyed free admission. Combining the dedicated efforts of Rotary clubs, local government, educational institutions, and civic charities, the concert bridged generational divides through music, reinforced support networks across families, schools, and communities, and encouraged youth to bravely confront the challenges of growing up.

From the Emergency Room to the Rock Stage: Inspiring the Power of Life Through Real Stories

The Rose Tomb Band, fronted by Dr. Shih-Yang Su, delivered an exceptionally moving performance. As a frontline physician, Dr. Su translated poignant, firsthand emergency room encounters into original rock compositions. By narrating life stories through music, he turned regrets, pivotal decisions, and hope into evocative melodies and lyrics, enabling young attendees to feel the profound sanctity of life and recognize how every choice influences themselves and those around them.

The organizers aimed to move beyond conventional, one-way lectures by utilizing musical genres embraced by youth, ensuring that drug prevention, anti-bullying efforts, and life education became authentic, impactful experiences rather than simple slogans. The concert encouraged young individuals to value themselves, respect others, and actively seek assistance whenever faced with adversity.

Cross-Sector Collaboration to Protect Youth and Anchor Life Education in Young Minds

Zheng-Chao Lin, District Governor of Rotary International District 3470, stated that the fundamental value of Rotary service lay in coordinating societal resources to generate enduring, positive change for those in need. Through the "Music for Life" initiative, Rotary brought together educational, healthcare, and civic forces to introduce life education into campus culture through engaging musical art. He expressed hope that this event would plant enduring seeds of cherishing life in every young attendee.

Mei-Hua Li, Director of the Education Department of the Chiayi County Government, noted that adolescent development required comprehensive emotional support and healthy values in addition to academic learning. When confronting substance abuse, campus bullying, and daily pressures, education could not rely solely on classroom lectures; it necessitated the active, collective companionship of families, schools, and society.

Shaw-Jenq Tsai, President of National Chung Cheng University, stated that CCU was deeply honored to host this meaningful public welfare event and collaborate with Rotary and regional partners in advancing life education. He emphasized that the concert's musical expression and authentic stories allowed adolescents to grasp the preciousness of life, practice mutual respect, and value themselves, establishing the university as an enduring bridge connecting higher education with social care.

Ai-Tzu Lee, Secretary General of CCU, added that CCU steadfastly upheld its university motto—"To innovate with earnestness; be virtuous with altruism"—to champion life education through this creative fusion of narrative and music.
