To help international students quickly become familiar with the campus and adjust smoothly to studying and living in Taiwan, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at National Chung Cheng University (CCU) held its Fall 2026 International Student Orientation on September 3.

The event was hosted by Prof. Victoria Ho, Vice President for International Affairs, alongside Assistant Prof. Van-Linh Nguyen, Director of the Division of International Students, OIA staff members, and student buddies. Senior international students representing various student associations were also invited to share their experiences. These speakers included Hoang-Son Nguyen, President of the Vietnamese Student Association and a master’s student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering; Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, President of the Indian Student Association and a doctoral student in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences; Ahmed Muhammed Amin, President of the Muslim Student Association and an undergraduate student in the Department of Biomedical Sciences; and Indonesian student representatives Ricky Kurniawan and Joses Risen Yaptori, an undergraduate student in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering.

Drawing on their own experiences, the senior students offered practical advice to help newcomers begin their journey at CCU. Their participation brought energy to the orientation and highlighted the vibrant, multicultural community on campus.

During the orientation, representatives from international student associations introduced new students to campus facilities, administrative resources, and notable local spots around the university from an international student’s perspective. They also shared practical advice from their own academic and daily experiences at CCU, including strategies for overcoming language and cultural barriers, utilizing university resources effectively, and balancing academics with extracurricular activities. Their firsthand experiences provided incoming students with practical guidance and boosted their confidence as they embarked on their new journey at CCU.

To encourage international students to begin career planning early, the orientation introduced the Ministry of Education’s “Program for Promoting International Students to Study and Stay in Taiwan.” Through this program, students learned about university-provided career resources, including career counseling, company visits, and job-matching opportunities. Students interested in pursuing careers in Taiwan were encouraged to explore their options early and progressively build the skills and experience required for future employment.

Beyond campus life and career information, the orientation covered essential registration procedures and administrative guidelines. Instructional videos highlighted key regulations regarding entry into Taiwan, CCU’s smoke-free campus policy, and work permit applications. An interactive quiz with prizes further engaged students while reinforcing their understanding of these key regulations and procedures.
