Discovering Corporate Value Through a Sustainable Investment Lens: College of Management to Host the 2026 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Report Case Study Competition

publish date : 2026-09-10

The Amundi Sustainable Investment Research Center (ASIRC) at National Chung Cheng University’s College of Management held the final round of the 2026 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Report Case Study Competition on September 16. The competition invited college and university students from across Taiwan to analyze corporate sustainability reports from a sustainable investment perspective, evaluating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance to deliver tailored investment recommendations. Participating teams competed for a top prize of NT$80,000.

Sustainability reports offer valuable insights into corporate commitments to environmental protection, social responsibility, and governance. Despite their importance to corporate sustainability, these reports frequently receive limited public discussion. Through this competition, ASIRC encouraged students to utilize publicly available data to evaluate how businesses pursue sustainable transformation and meet stakeholder expectations. The event aimed to enhance students' skills in assessing sustainability performance and identifying long-term corporate value.

This year's competition featured five Taiwanese companies recognized for their sustainability practices: Innolux Corporation, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Cheng Loong Corporation, and Far Eastern Department Stores. Organizers randomly assigned one report to each team. Comprising two to five students from various universities and academic disciplines, teams evaluated their assigned company’s sustainability strategy, governance, and transformation potential from an investor's standpoint. Participants presented compelling investment arguments, showcasing an integrated understanding of sustainable finance and corporate management.

The event featured preliminary and final rounds. In the preliminary phase, teams submitted research reports in PDF format under 15 pages without restricted layouts. Shortlisted finalists delivered 10-minute oral presentations on September 16. Beyond highlighting corporate sustainability achievements and investment value, finalists identified key areas for improvement, demonstrating a deep understanding of ESG topics and business strategies.

The competition awarded a total prize pool of NT$190,000. The First Prize winner received NT$80,000 and a certificate; the Second Prize winner received NT$50,000 and a certificate; and the Third Prize winner received NT$30,000 and a certificate. Three Honorable Mention awards of NT$10,000 with certificates were also presented.

ASIRC emphasized that sustainable development is essential for modern business and a critical competency for future professionals. By encouraging active engagement with corporate reports, the competition fostered data analysis, strategic evaluation, and investment decision-making skills among students. Cross-institutional and multidisciplinary collaboration enabled participants to bridge academic theory with industry practice, reinforcing National Chung Cheng University’s commitment to sustainability education, industry–academia partnerships, and social impact.
