publish date : 2026-06-02

The Department of Adult and Continuing Education at National Chung Cheng University hosted the 2026 Adult Education Research Forum on May 29, 2026. This year’s core theme, "Learning Promotes Health—Cross-Domain LOHAS Actions and Dialogues in Adult Education," brought together academic experts and field practitioners. The forum aimed to explore how adult education drives health promotion initiatives across diverse settings and to establish practical paths for LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) spanning from classrooms to communities through cross-disciplinary and cross-field dialogues.

The opening ceremony commenced at 9:00 AM at the Cho-Chang International Conference Hall in the College of Education Building II, chaired by Professor Li-Hui Lin, Chair of the Department of Adult and Continuing Education. Following the opening, Professor Kwang-Yue Chen, Chairman of the Tao Sheng-Yang Cancer Prevention Foundation, delivered a keynote speech titled "Discussing How to End the Harm of Cancer through Cancer Prevention Lifestyle Family Education," which emphasized the critical importance of implementing cancer-preventive healthy living through family education.

Following the keynote speech, a cross-domain collaboration forum was held, moderated by Distinguished Professor Meng-Ching Hu from the Department of Adult and Continuing Education. This panel session featured Professor Kwang-Yue Chen, Chairman of the Tao Sheng-Yang Cancer Prevention Foundation; Professor Ching-Ju Chiu, Director of the Institute of Gerontology at National Cheng Kung University; and Professor Ai-Tzu Li, Professor of the Department of Adult and Continuing Education and Secretary General of the University.

Titled "From Classroom to Community: How Adult Education Drives National Health Action," this comprehensive panel discussion facilitated cross-disciplinary exchanges drawing from adult education, gerontology, and cancer prevention medical education to construct a blueprint for national health action.

The afternoon session featured four concurrent academic paper presentation sessions. Out of 38 submissions, 13 academic papers were selected through an initial review process and presented in parallel sessions at the Cho-Chang International Conference Hall and Lecture Hall 135 in the College of Education Building II.

The presentations covered rich and diverse topics, including a cross-cultural comparison between Jeju Haenyeo (women divers) in South Korea and community bands in Taiwan; a transformative analysis of middle-aged and older unemployed individuals participating in generative AI learning; and an exploration of the key factors involved in transforming community pharmacies into health hubs.

The forum concluded with a paper evaluation and selection process. Professor Hui-Chuan Wei from the Department of Adult and Continuing Education presided over the Outstanding Student Paper Awards and the closing ceremony, encouraging presenters to continue deepening their research in the field of adult education. This ceremony brought the 2026 Adult Education Research Forum to a successful close. The forum not only demonstrated National Chung Cheng University's leading position in adult education research, but also provided concrete action guidelines and practical blueprints for health promotion and lifelong learning models in a super-aged society through cross-domain and cross-disciplinary integration and dialogue.
