Delegation from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Visits CCU to Strengthen Taiwan–Thailand Higher Education Collaboration
A delegation from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), Thailand, visited National Chung Cheng University (CCU) in early May 2026 for academic exchange and collaboration discussions. The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Victoria Rau, Vice President for International Affairs, along with Prof. Gina Chen, Director of the Center for Language Studies, and Prof. Van-Linh Nguyen, Director of the Division of International Students. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including student exchange, summer camps, international degree programs, semiconductor talent cultivation, and academic cooperation.
The RMUTL delegation was led by Dr. Nopadon Maneetien, Dean of the Interdisciplinary and Technological College (ITC), and consisted of 18 representatives from various administrative and academic divisions, including academic affairs, research, and student affairs. Their visit demonstrated RMUTL’s strong commitment to advancing bilateral collaboration. During the exchange, RMUTL introduced the development and key features of its Interdisciplinary and Technological College, while CCU shared its achievements in internationalization and support services for international students.
CCU has long been committed to providing comprehensive support services for international students, including an international mentor system, intercultural activities, Mandarin language training, and post-graduation career counseling for employment opportunities in Taiwan. These efforts aim to create a friendly and diverse international campus environment.
Notably, RMUTL sent students from its Pre-Engineering Program to participate in the STEM Summer Camp organized by CCU’s Department of Mechanical Engineering for two consecutive years. At the time of the visit, ten RMUTL students were attending the camp on the CCU campus. During the visit, the RMUTL delegation took the opportunity to meet with these students and learn more about their academic and daily experiences at CCU.
On the day of the visit, the summer camp students participated in hands-on activities in the Fuel Cell Laboratory led by Prof. Yong-Song Chen, Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The RMUTL delegation visited the laboratory to gain a better understanding of CCU’s teaching and research environment. Participating Thai students remarked that they were deeply impressed by CCU’s practical courses and advanced laboratory facilities. Through English-medium instruction and interactions with students from different countries, they not only enhanced their professional knowledge but also gained a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture and campus life.
Director Nopadon Maneetien further noted that CCU’s International Bachelor Program in Mechanical Engineering, which is fully taught in English, became a highly attractive option for students from RMUTL’s Pre-Engineering Program who wish to pursue higher education in Taiwan. He also emphasized that this program would serve as an important advantage in future recruitment promotion to Thai parents and students.
Following the visit, the RMUTL delegation sent a letter expressing sincere appreciation for CCU’s warm hospitality and thoughtful arrangements, noting that the exchange had laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two universities. RMUTL also expressed its intention to continue promoting collaboration with CCU in areas such as semiconductor engineering, internship programs, innovative academic programs, and doctoral talent cultivation, with the shared goal of establishing a closer and long-term Taiwan–Thailand higher education partnership.
