Defining University Excellence: Innovation, Humanity, and Social Synergy at National Chung Cheng University

Located in the heart of the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan region, National Chung Cheng University (CCU) is a comprehensive university distinguished by its balanced development in humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields. Beyond its beautiful, verdant campus, CCU achieved remarkable success in institutional development, academic research, industry-academia collaboration, and international engagement. Recently, the university was ranked among the top three "Southern General Universities" in the CommonWealth Magazine 2026 survey of universities and interns most favored by corporations, continuing to cultivate diverse talent for regional industrial transformation and upgrade. Here, every student can define their own future within our expansive campus.

CCU's academic landscape was both comprehensive and balanced, showcasing international-grade research energy. The College of Humanities emphasized interdisciplinary and international development; notably, its "Classics and Ancient History" discipline ranked 31st globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject and received recognition from the Ministry of Education's "Higher Education Sprout Project."

The university also excelled in social sciences, business management, law, and education. The social science disciplines at the College of Social Sciences entered the top 1% of ESI globally and were ranked within the top 250 in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. The College of Management’s research achievements in Accounting Information Systems (AIS) ranked 1st in Asia and 31st globally in 2025, demonstrating strong international competitiveness. The College of Law entered the top 400 in the 2025 QS World University Rankings for Law, with graduates performing exceptionally well in judicial and bar examinations. The College of Education covered areas such as adult education, crime prevention, and athletic sports, with the Department of Criminology consistently ranking among the top 100 most popular departments for high school students.

From basic sciences to cutting-edge technology, the STEM fields served as the core drivers of future industrial innovation. The College of Science focused on basic sciences while actively developing quantum physics, precision medicine, artificial intelligence, and new material technologies. The College of Engineering deepened its expertise in AI communications, chip design, smart manufacturing, advanced energy technologies, and drone AI innovation, while maintaining full accreditation from the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) to align with international standards. The university maintained numerous industry-academia projects with companies such as TSMC, ASE, Himax, Delta, Foxconn, and the Formosa Plastics Group.

In response to the rapid development of generative AI, high-performance computing, and global digital infrastructure, CCU announced the planning of the "Silicon Photonics Semiconductor College" last December. As the first university in Taiwan to establish such a college, CCU responded directly to the urgent demand for low-power, high-speed transmission in the AI era. This platform served as a vital link between national technology policy, industrial upgrading, and professional talent cultivation. The university already launched micro-credit programs and initiated the establishment of a master's degree program.

To break the limitations of traditional entrance examinations, CCU promoted the "Bachelor Program in Interdisciplinary Studies," offering diverse admission and exploration opportunities for students with special talents and high academic ambition. Students did not need to declare a major immediately; instead, they cultivated core competencies in critical thinking, foreign languages, and communication through flexible interdisciplinary courses and liberal arts education. In their senior years, students focused on their professional interests and entered practical fields, developing unique and competitive career paths.

Learning at CCU extended beyond the classroom into a vibrant campus life. With its wide and green environment, students attended the ceremonial Winter Market or picnicked on the lawn while discussing dreams with peers. Participation in clubs, cross-disciplinary or cross-cultural exchanges, and residential life enriched students' experiences and expanded their social circles.

Students here also learned to love life. The library offered various reading promotion and cultural activities, creating an energetic learning atmosphere. The campus's top-tier sports and fitness facilities were not only a cradle for sports teams but also the best place for students to release stress. The national-level professional facilities made exercise a unique sensory enjoyment for CCU students.

Upholding the philosophy of "Unique, Excellent, and Forward-looking," CCU continued to promote a development blueprint of "New Generation, New Thinking, and New Positioning." By leveraging its layouts in silicon photonics and AI, combined with its deep foundation in humanities and social sciences, the university moved steadily toward becoming a high-level educational hub that connected technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and social care.

Here, every student could cultivate professional strength, expand international horizons, and realize their dreams on this warm and vibrant campus.
