2026 Spring & Summer Arts & Culture at CCU: In Full Bloom Exhibitions, Concert & Creative Experiences
As a new semester began, the National Chung Cheng University (CCU) Library presented the 2026 Spring & Summer Arts & Culture Series, featuring a lineup of exhibitions, a major concert, artist talks, and hands-on workshops. Art is never far from our lives—creative inspiration can be found in everyday moments, and this season’s program was designed to bring faculty, students, and the wider community a rich variety of cultural experiences on campus throughout the spring and summer.
Exhibitions Opened in Succession from February
This season’s exhibitions began in February with The Light That Never Fades: #244 Project Charity Group Exhibition (Feb. 13–Apr. 20). Featuring paintings by artists living with rare diseases, the exhibition showed how they used art to process illness and life’s challenges—healing, reframing, and finding strength through creation. It invited audiences to witness art as a quiet force of companionship, comfort, and hope.
Next was Walk with the Wavelength – Chiehyu Yeh Solo Exhibition (Apr. 24–Jun. 8). Built around a palette of blues and the subtle fading of light, the works unfolded at an unhurried pace—inviting viewers to pause, take a deep breath, and reconnect with their own sense of time.
In June, the summer season began with Pages & Paint: Arts in Bloom in Chiayi—Yishan Community College Students & Faculty Joint Exhibition (Jun. 13–Aug. 19), featuring calligraphy, sketching, Blessing Flower (traditional floral craft), ink painting, and floral aesthetics. By pairing traditional techniques with contemporary sensibilities, the exhibition reminded us that art can live comfortably in everyday spaces.
A Major Concert: “From Alishan to the Hills”
On Saturday, May 30, the OneSong Orchestra presented From Alishan to the Hills: Memories of Time Concert at the Auditorium of the CCU Activity Center. Framed around Taiwanese pop music and collective memory, the program traced a musical journey that moved from folk tunes and campus songs to classic pop hits. Through these familiar melodies, audiences were invited to look back on the emotions and memories of different eras—and to hear the voice of this land carried in song.
Talks & Tea-Time Chats: Creative Sharing and Artists’ Conversations
Beyond the exhibitions and concert, the CCU Library also presented a series of talks and tea-time conversations. On Thursday, March 26, The Light That Never Fades featured a Creative Sharing session by rare disease artist Mina Liu, where the artist shared her creative journey and life story firsthand. On Friday, March 27, the Artists’ Tea Talk brought together Artist-in-Residence Liu Ting-Se and invited guests for a relaxed yet thoughtful chat about art in everyday life—exploring the many ways creativity can meet, shape, and brighten ordinary moments.
Hands-On Workshops: Create Together
For those who love hands-on creating, the series featured three workshops. Artist-in-Residence Liu Ting-Se led two of the sessions: the Oil Painting Workshop on Friday, March 13, where participants took a short walk on campus to find inspiration from the golden trumpet trees (Tabebuia), learned basic oil-painting skills, and completed personal artworks. The Sketching Workshop followed on Friday, May 8, which started with an introduction to composition and lines before heading outdoors for campus sketching. On Friday, May 15, the Pagination-make Workshop explored a foundational lacquer-art technique—using leaf-vein prints with cashew lacquer and metallic powder to build layered effects and complete a lacquer tray.
Mid-Spring Blossom Tea Gathering: Tea-Table Aesthetics on the Library–Humanities Path
Set along the Library–Humanities Path (Tuwen Path)—the campus walkway connecting the CCU Library and the College of Humanities—the Mid-Spring Blossom Tea Gathering invited CCU faculty, students, and visitors to join in a viewing-focused tea experience. Participants observed and appreciated the art of tea rather than brewing individually. From the tea-table layout and teaware arrangement to the quiet rhythm of tea preparation, participants enjoyed the beauty of a tea setting up close. With flower shadows, tea fragrance, and nature all around, the event offered a gentle moment where everyday aesthetics came into bloom.
