publish date : 2026-02-13

Students from National Chung Cheng University (CCU) demonstrated outstanding performance at the 2025 CULTECH+1 Cultural Technology Competition. With five teams participating and three winning awards, CCU students showcased their innovative ability to integrate cultural heritage with technological applications. The award ceremony was held on February 3, 2026, during the opening of the AMBI SPACE X CHIAYI Immersive Experience Space in Chiayi County, and received widespread recognition.

The CULTECH+1 Cultural Technology Competition was jointly organized by the Cultural Technology Development Association and the Chiayi County Cultural and Tourism Bureau, supported by the Chiayi Cultural Technology Innovation Hub. The competition invited entrepreneurs and students to propose innovative technological applications for local cultural sites. Fifty teams registered this year, making the competition highly competitive.

CCU’s success was supported by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub, following the encouragement of Vice President Hsin-Yuan Hung. Vice President Hung has long worked to connect students with local cultural organizations and industry resources, providing hands-on guidance while motivating students to develop innovative proposals.

The winning CCU teams included "Wu Ya Dan You Ya" (No Teeth But With Teeth), which won the First Prize for its proposal on Koji Pottery and Cut Glaze Art; "Xin Yuan Technology," which took Third Prize for its project on the Zhou Nan Salt Field; and "Baseball Team," which earned Third Prize for its work on Koji Pottery. Other teams, such as "Seaweed Team" and "Tao Qi Wang Zi," also represented CCU with remarkable dedication to cultural technology.

The award-winning projects focused on local Chiayi culture, combining digital technology and experiential design to reinterpret tradition. These projects aimed to make cultural heritage both visible and engaging. Specifically, Xin Yuan Technology used AR-guided tours for the Zhou Nan Salt Field. Baseball Team combined AI with interactive guides to transform Koji Pottery into digital characters. Wu Ya Dan You Ya leveraged the Batou Village pottery site with AI guidance and gamified challenges to bring Koji Pottery and Cut Glaze Art closer to younger generations.

During the preparation phase, teams balanced cultural understanding with technological implementation. Wu Ya Dan You Ya and Seaweed Team were guided by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub through consultations. Xin Yuan Technology, a long-term nurtured team, accumulated practical experience, and Baseball Team was strengthened under the guidance of Professor Zhen-Guo Jiang. Together, these efforts transformed creativity into feasible plans.

Participating students shared that the competition deepened their understanding of cultural sites and taught them to think from the user’s perspective. They planned to continue refining their projects and participating in future competitions to provide more exposure to the innovative outcomes of cultural technology.
