National Chung Cheng University Hosted the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Mathematical Society of the Republic of China
The 61st Annual Meeting of the Mathematical Society of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and International Mathematical Conference, the largest and most prestigious mathematical event in Taiwan, took place on January 21–22, 2026, at National Chung Cheng University (CCU). The conference brought together nearly 450 mathematicians, faculty members, and students from home and abroad for two days of intensive academic exchange.
The CCU Department of Mathematics previously hosted the Annual Meeting in 1995 and 2009. This 2026 meeting marked the third time the University has served as the host, symbolizing academic continuity and CCU's robust capacity for fundamental scientific research and academic service.
The conference featured a diverse program with three plenary lectures, five joint lectures, and nearly 80 parallel sessions across ten mathematical subfields. These sessions showcased the latest research achievements and emerging trends in contemporary mathematics, spanning theoretical, applied, and interdisciplinary areas.
The distinguished lineup of plenary speakers included Professor Duong H. Phong of Columbia University and Professor George Karniadakis of Brown University. Additionally, Distinguished Research Fellow Yu Shih-Hsien of the Institute of Mathematics at Academia Sinica delivered a plenary lecture, sharing his significant advances in the mathematical theory of compressible waves.
This meeting provided scholars and students in southern Taiwan with valuable opportunities to engage with cutting-edge research, contributing to the balanced development of regional academic resources. Furthermore, it showcased CCU to the national mathematical community as a campus defined by its humanistic spirit and growing research strength.
