Industry–Academia Collaboration Strengthened to Build a New Engine for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Chiayi
To strengthen industry–academia linkages and promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and the co-prosperity of local industries, the Startup Land of National Chung Cheng University (CCU) and the Minxiong–Touqiao Industrial Park Manufacturers Association officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on December 22, 2025, at the Chiayi Hsin Hotel. The two parties engaged in long-term collaboration across education, science, technology, and industrial applications, jointly establishing a forward-looking and practice-oriented support ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Minxiong–Touqiao Industrial Park Manufacturers Association brings together diverse manufacturing and related industries within the Minxiong-Touqiao Industrial Parks. It serves as a key platform for inter-firm exchange and as a bridge for communication between industry and government, while actively promoting industrial innovation, technological upgrading, and resource integration. Through this collaboration, the Association aligned the practical needs of park enterprises with the industry linkage initiatives of CCU Startup Land, facilitating the translation of academic research outcomes into industrial applications.
According to the MOU, the two parties jointly promote the following areas of cooperation:
1. Facilitating collaborative research and exchanges in business, information technology, and socio-economic fields, deepening knowledge sharing between academia and industry;
2. Jointly planning lectures, forums, seminars, and related academic or industrial events, as well as short-term exchange visits, to enhance students’ and enterprises’ understanding of industry trends;
3. Exchanging professional information of mutual interest to foster innovative knowledge; and
4. Promoting learning activities, joint research, and socio-economic initiatives on a case-by-case basis, creating more practical participation and collaboration opportunities for students, startup teams, and industry partners.
Dr. Shin-Yuan Hung, Director of the CCU Startup Land and Vice President of National Chung Cheng University, stated that the Startup Land continued to focus on integrating internal and external resources to build a supportive and action-oriented innovation and entrepreneurship environment. This collaboration with the Minxiong–Touqiao Industrial Park Manufacturers Association not only enabled students and startup teams to engage with industry practices at an earlier stage, but also enhanced the feasibility of commercializing research outcomes and introducing them to the market.
Mr. Chih-Chan Chen, Chairman of the Minxiong–Touqiao Industrial Park Manufacturers Association, noted that systematic collaboration with universities could attract more young talent, interdisciplinary expertise, and R&D capacity, injecting new momentum into industrial upgrading and sustainable development within the industrial park, and achieving mutual growth in enterprise development and talent cultivation.
This MOU took effect on the date of signing. Both parties continue to review outcomes and practical needs, and made rolling adjustments to further deepen the scope of cooperation. Through a long-term and stable industry–academia partnership, both sides look forward to jointly advancing innovation and entrepreneurship in the Chiayi region and establishing a competitive and impactful new model for local industrial development.
