CCU Library Won National Gold Award for Creative Reading Promotion; “Book Divination” Campaign Engaged Over 30,000 Participants
The National Chung Cheng University (CCU) Library’s innovative reading promotion project, “Book Divination: Draw Your Reading Fortune!”, stood out at the “2025 University and College Library Advancement and Innovation Competition” organized by the Library Association of the Republic of China (Taiwan), winning the prestigious Gold Award. The award ceremony and achievement exhibition were held on November 21 at the National Central Library during the 59th General Assembly of the Library Association. The event also featured an exhibition of the winning projects, drawing significant interest and praise from attendees.
The award-winning project "Book Divination" centered on the creative concept of “reading fortune-telling,” skillfully blending collection promotion with interactive game design. The campaign transformed reading from a solitary act into a delightful journey of exploration. Participants drew “reading fortune slips,” each featuring an inspiring quote and a corresponding book recommendation, guiding them to discover their “perfect book for the day.”
What made the project truly special was its collaborative nature. Instead of having the fortune slips designed solely by librarians, the library invited students and faculty across campus to contribute their favorite “golden quotes.” More than 1,500 quotes were collected, each reflecting the unique insights and heartfelt wishes of CCU readers. These collective words of wisdom were transformed into interactive fortunes, weaving together a shared “reading magic” between the library and its patrons. The project’s design beautifully captured both creativity and the spirit of co-creation that defined CCU’s campus reading culture.
The activity received an enthusiastic response after its launch. Online participation exceeded 7,000 interactions, while over 500 related books were borrowed during the campaign period. Social media posts about the project reached 23,000 views, and the combined online and on-site engagement attracted more than 30,000 participants in total. This wave of creativity successfully reignited enthusiasm for reading and made the library one of the most talked-about places on campus.
The library expressed that this honor belonged not only to the library team but also to every student and faculty member who participated in and supported the event. “Every submission, every fortune drawn, and every smile from our readers was an essential piece of this achievement,” the team shared. It was the encouragement and joy of CCU’s readers that continued to drive the library forward, making the campus reading culture shine ever brighter.
Looking ahead, the library remained committed to “illuminating reading with creativity,” planning more activities that combined interactive learning, technology, and cultural engagement. By presenting reading in fresh and inspiring forms, CCU Library hoped to let the fragrance of books continue to spread across campus. The library warmly invited all students and faculty to visit, explore, and rediscover the joy and wonder that reading could bring.
