From Local Demands to Global Action: A Showcase of K–12 International Education Highlights

Hosted by the K-12 Education Administration of the Ministry of Education and organized by the Graduate Institute of Education at National Chung Cheng University (CCU), the "International Education Achievement Sharing Meeting for Primary and Secondary Schools" was successfully held on November 18 at the Brick Hotel in Chiayi County. Under the theme "The World as Our Classroom: Co-Constructing an Educational Vision for Global Mobility and Local Responsibility," the event attracted active participation from educators nationwide and showcased the fruitful achievements of Taiwan's primary and secondary schools in promoting international education.

The opening ceremony featured remarks by Shu-Min Lin, Deputy Division Chief of the Division of Education for Indigenous Peoples and Special Education at the K-12 Education Administration. The event also featured Ting-Yu Yen, Deputy Director of the Chiayi County Government Education Department, and Shin-Yuan Hong, Vice President of National Chung Cheng University, who delivered speeches to jointly kick off the proceedings.

The event was divided into three main tracks: "Student Joint Presentations," "Teacher Joint Presentations," and "International Educational Exchange by IEC & the Primary and Secondary School Alliance," which aimed to promote cross-cultural exchanges and pedagogical innovation through multiple platforms.

The event specifically invited five schools—National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park, Hsinchu City Shu Guang Girls’ High School, Taichung City Ming Dao High School, Shi Gang Junior High School, and Chailin Elementary School in Chiayi County—to present jointly in English with teachers and students from sister schools in Japan, Vietnam, France, South Korea, and the United States, sharing valuable experiences in cross-cultural curriculum and international exchanges.

Among the highlights were the results jointly displayed by 22 international education centers and branches of the International Education Exchange Alliance. Each county and city showcased specific results of promoting international education in recent years through creative exhibitions. In addition, the Taiwan International Cultural and Educational Innovation Exchange Association and the Taiwan International Educational Resource Network Association showcased various achievements in international cooperation, attracting significant attention from participants.

Program Chair Professor Sheng-Yao Cheng of the Graduate Institute of Education at National Chung Cheng University stated that the meeting was the first large-scale international education event following the pandemic and represented an important milestone in promoting the internationalization of education.
