Congratulations! 22 CCU Scholars Named in Stanford University’s 2025 “World’s Top 2% Scientists” List
Stanford University announced the latest “World’s Top 2% Scientists 2025” ranking, with 22 scholars from National Chung Cheng University (CCU) recognized among the world’s most influential scientists. A total of 18 CCU scholars were listed in the Career-Long Scientific Impact Rankings, while 12 scholars were included in the Single-Year Scientific Impact Rankings, demonstrating the university’s strong research capability and growing global academic influence.
The awardees were affiliated with various academic units, including the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Information Management, as well as the Interdisciplinary Science Program, the Advanced Institute of Manufacturing with High-tech Innovations (AIM-HI), and the College of Engineering’s Intelligent Healthcare and Medical Technology Research Center—highlighting CCU’s excellence across both engineering and interdisciplinary research fields.
The ranking was compiled by a research team at Stanford University, based on data from the world’s largest abstract and citation database, Scopus, and published via Elsevier’s Mendeley Data platform. Scholars were evaluated according to six citation metrics:
1. Total citations (NC)
2. Hirsch h-index
3. Co-authorship-adjusted Schreiber Hm-index
4. Citations for single-authored papers
5. Citations for single or first-authored papers
6. Citations for single, first, or last-authored papers
These indicators collectively reflected scholars’ long-term academic productivity, influence, and contribution within the global scientific community.
The 2025 edition of the list was based on Scopus data extracted as of August 1, 2025, identifying the top 2% most-cited scientists worldwide. The dataset covered 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, listing approximately 100,000 scientists divided into two categories: Career-Long Impact Rankings (1960–2024)—representing cumulative research influence, and Single-Year Impact Rankings—reflecting the impact for the most recent year.
In that year, 18 CCU scholars were listed in the Career-Long Impact Rankings, and 12 scholars appeared in the Single-Year Impact Rankings. Among them were senior professors with long-standing contributions to international academia, promising young faculty, and two research fellows. Their inclusion underscored CCU’s strong research foundation, talent cultivation, and growing global recognition.
National Chung Cheng University continues to promote high-quality research and interdisciplinary innovation, fostering a supportive environment for academic advancement. The inclusion of 22 scholars in Stanford University’s global list once again reaffirms CCU’s long-term academic excellence and its commitment to becoming a sustainable, globally recognized research university.
