2025 Autumn and Winter Events: Blooming Colors and Winter Glow at CCU
At this turning of the seasons, the National Chung Cheng University (CCU) Library unveils its 2025 Autumn and Winter Arts and Culture Events. The 2025 program aims to bring art into both campus and community life, presenting exhibitions, concerts, lectures, and workshops. Covering themes from painting and Renaissance music to natural healing, restoration crafts, and paper art, the program offers an artistic journey that bridges time and connects with everyday life, inviting everyone to discover the warmth and inspiration that art can bring.
Exhibitions: Diverse Facets of Art
The season opened in September with “Fluttering Dreams of Butterflies – Ink Painting Solo Exhibition” by Huey-Chen Tseng, capturing the flowing imagery of nature and dreams. Following this, CCU alumna and artist-in-residence Ting-Se Liu presented “Brushstrokes of Time,” an oil painting exhibition reflecting her delicate yet powerful exploration of time and life’s warmth, blending impressionist style with Eastern cultural sensibilities.
In mid-September, CCU also hosted the Artwork Donation and Artist Talk by artist Hsin-Fang Yin, featuring his monumental painting, Dreams Take Flight. The event would share the artist’s reflections on transformation, faith, and the healing power of art. At the year’s end, the calligraphy exhibition, “The Beauty of Seal Script” by Chao-Shan Huang, will showcase the elegance and vigor of Qin seal script.
Music: Echoes Across Time
In October, a team of musicians named “The Gleam Ensemble” brings the program titled “The Renaissance Dancing Master: From the Age of Discovery,” recreating the pure soundscape of European Renaissance music with historical instruments. On October 21, The Gleam Ensemble further presented a concert of medieval and Renaissance dances and songs, accompanied by commentary on the history of the works and demonstrations of period instruments. Preceding the concert, a lecture and Renaissance dance workshop will invite audiences to immerse themselves in the cultural atmosphere of the era.
Lectures & Workshops: Art Meets Everyday Life
This season’s lectures and workshops are designed to be diverse and hands-on, blending practicality with artistry. The natural healing series includes “Embracing the Natural Magic of Hydrosols and Essential Oils” and “The Wonderful World of Terrariums,” encouraging participants to experience the calming energy of plants. In the realm of restoration crafts, the “Kintsugi Traditional Restoration Workshop” offers a chance to explore the aesthetics of repairing broken objects, with a later showcase of participants’ works. In addition, artist Kai-Xiang Zhong will lead a lecture and workshop on Corrugated Paper Art, inspiring participants to discover the creative possibilities of this unique medium.
Campus Celebration: Winter Glow at CCU
As the gentle winter light falls upon the campus, on December 21, CCU will host “Winter Glow at CCU: Campus Music and Arts Market” in Appreciation at Phoenix Boulevard and Feather Light Hills. With gratitude as its theme, the outdoor festival will feature student performances, street artists, food trucks, picnics on the grass, eco-friendly flea markets, creative book fairs, and art and craft stalls. This festive event invites students, faculty, alumni, and the local community to come together to celebrate the season.
