2024 Outstanding TAs Announced! 22 CCU Students Selected for Excellence in Teaching Support

publish date : 2025-06-09

To honor teaching assistants (TAs) who have demonstrated exceptional performance and actively facilitated classroom teaching and faculty-student interactions, the Center for Teaching and Learning Development at National Chung Cheng University held the 2024 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Recognition Ceremony and Experience-Sharing Session on June 9 at 10:30 a.m.

A total of 22 outstanding teaching assistants were formally recognized with certificates of merit and book vouchers, acknowledging their dedication, professionalism, and impact on the teaching environment. The event also aimed to foster experience sharing and professional exchange among TAs across departments and disciplines.

In accordance with the university’s Guidelines for the Selection and Reward of Outstanding Teaching Assistants, the selection process was conducted in two stages—preliminary review and final evaluation—by a committee convened by the Center for Teaching and Learning Development, under the Office of Academic Affairs. A total of 59 nominees were recommended by colleges and teaching units during the preliminary stage. After a comprehensive evaluation considering teaching contributions, student engagement, and innovation in support methods, 22 TAs were ultimately selected, reflecting the university’s ongoing commitment to teaching quality and instructional support.

The event opened with remarks from Professor Shu-Yung Wang, the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development, who expressed heartfelt appreciation for the contributions of all teaching assistants. She emphasized the essential role of TAs as bridges between instructors and students, and encouraged them to continue advancing their skills and influence in the teaching process. This was followed by a warm and celebratory award ceremony where the director personally presented the honors.

To enrich the recognition event with peer inspiration, two 2023 award recipients—Yu-Wen Tseng (Department of Business Administration) and Yi-Nong Wu (Department of Criminology)—were invited to share their experiences. They reflected on the challenges and breakthroughs encountered in their teaching support roles and encouraged the newly awarded TAs to remain proactive, communicative, and reflective in their practice.

This year’s awardees represent a wide range of disciplines—from the humanities and social sciences to engineering and business—highlighting the breadth and depth of the university’s TA support system. Many of them contributed to developing digital teaching materials, facilitating group discussions, preparing learning summaries, and assisting in multilingual classrooms—earning high praise from both instructors and students.

Beyond recognizing individual excellence, the event served as a platform to cultivate professional identity, encourage cross-disciplinary dialogue, and strengthen the culture of collaborative learning. Going forward, the Center for Teaching and Learning Development will continue to enhance TA training programs and incentive mechanisms to nurture future talents who are committed to high-quality teaching support.
