National Chung Cheng University Excels in Promoting Campus Health, Awarded "Excellence" by the Ministry of Education
To assess the current state of campus health programs and health education activities at universities and colleges, the Ministry of Education conducted an annual School Health Statistical Survey and on-site evaluations of outstanding institutions. National Chung Cheng University (CCU) stood out among more than a hundred universities nationwide, earning the Ministry of Education's "Excellence" award for its proactive promotion of campus health initiatives and its creative and diverse health promotion activities.
Under the leadership of Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Lu Long-Chuan, CCU's Health Care Division collaborated closely with the Student Safety Division, the General Affairs Office, the Environmental Safety Center, and the General Education Center. Through regular Health Committee meetings, the university strategically planned and implemented a variety of campus health programs. These initiatives addressed multiple areas, including health services, food hygiene, and infectious disease prevention. The university's consistent efforts to enhance campus health have earned high recognition from the Ministry of Education, along with a grant of NT$60,000 to support the acquisition of health-related equipment and the organization of health promotion activities.
In addition to promoting health programs on campus, CCU is also committed to sharing its experiences and fostering inter-campus collaboration. Due to its exceptional performance in school health, CCU has not only received recognition from the Ministry of Education but has also earned the garnered appreciation of other institutions. Recently, the university was invited to share its experiences with other schools, facilitating mutual learning and collaboration to enhance campus health initiatives across institutions.
According to the School Health Act, the Ministry of Education evaluates schools based on seven major areas: campus health programs, staff training, data management, health services, infectious disease prevention, environmental facilities, and health education activities. The evaluation process includes both document reviews and on-site inspections. Beyond assessing how schools meet basic health standards, the Ministry emphasizes innovation and practicality, encouraging institutions to develop distinctive health promotion initiatives.
CCU's Health Care Division actively enforces for various health promotion projects, strictly implements epidemic prevention regulations, and organizes diverse and creative health promotion activities. The division collaborates with the General Education Center to offer a tobacco hazard prevention service-learning course, which educates students about the dangers of smoking and encourages their participation in campus health initiatives, fostering healthy living habits. Furthermore, the Health Care Division works closely with the Student Safety Division, the Environmental Safety Center, and the General Affairs Office's Civil Service Committee to maintain campus environments, promote health education, and ensure the effective implementation of school health policies.
