National Chung Cheng University Announces Its 2025 Spring & Summer Arts and Culture Events: A Journey Through Art and Social Consciousness
As spring arrives in full bloom, the CCU Library is set to launch its highly anticipated 2025 Spring & Summer Arts and Culture Events. This diverse program features a series of exhibitions, musical performances, documentary screenings, and thematic lectures on topics such as painting, ceramics, music, and wildlife conservation. The initiative aims to provide a rich cultural experience for students, faculty, and the local community.
This season’s exhibitions highlight the works of four distinguished artists and collectives, each showcasing their distinctive artistic styles. From February 24 to April 27, A New World Named by Me - The Process of Self-awareness: Yin Hsin-Fang Solo Exhibition explores the relationship between art and life through geometric abstraction and spatial memory. A dialogue with artists Yin Hsin-Fang and Chuang Tsung-Hsun is scheduled for March 20. From May 1 to July 31, Intersections of Vision: A Painting Exhibition by Ko Cheng Chiu blends realism, abstraction, and surrealism to offer a multi-layered interpretation of the visual world. A guided tour of the exhibition is scheduled to take place during its run.
The Creative Migration: Chiayi County Creative Painting Association 2025 Member Exhibition, running from May 1 to June 8, features diverse media including oil painting, watercolor, sculpture, and calligraphy, showcasing the passion and innovation of its members. From June 13 to August 31, ceramic artist Yang Hui-Ling’s exhibition, Bauhinia Colors: The Symbolic Flower of CCU - A Pottery Exhibition by Yang Hui-Ling, highlights unique firing techniques and textures in ceramic art. On June 24, a workshop, Find Joy in Serenity: Handmade Pottery, will be held, inviting students and faculty to experience the joy of pottery making.
This semester, the CCU Library proudly presents a live performance by the Kaohsiung City Wind Orchestra (KCWO), a distinguished ensemble honored as a Taiwan Top Performing Arts Group by the National Culture and Arts Foundation for six consecutive years. On May 15, they will bring audiences the Classic Songs of Japanese Anime Concert, featuring beloved theme songs from Slam Dunk, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, and more, with select pieces performed by anime vocalists. To enrich the concert experience, an Anime Concert Pre-Talk will be held on May 5, offering insights into the musical interpretations and themes behind the performance.
The thematic lecture series kicks off on March 7 with a screening of When Worlds Collide: A Formosan Black Bear's Deadly Dance with Civilization, a documentary produced by the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency. The film chronicles the life of a Formosan black bear from Dongmao Mountain that underwent two rescues and releases before ultimately meeting a tragic fate. Following the screening, director Yen Wen-Ju will engage in a discussion with the audience, exploring ways for humans and wildlife to coexist harmoniously.
To further raise awareness of animal protection and responsible pet ownership, the CCU Library has invited Heart of Taiwan Animal Care to host two educational lectures. These sessions will shed light on the realities of stray animals in Taiwan and the impact of their advocacy efforts through sterilization programs, education, and policy initiatives. On May 26, Practical TNVR for Stray Cats will be presented by lecturer Chang Yi-Hao, focusing on the Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) method as an effective strategy for managing stray cat populations. On May 28, lecturer Hsu Wen-Hsiu will discuss Balancing Free-Roaming and Breeding: How Can Sterilization Change the Fate of Rural Dogs and Cats? highlighting the survival challenges of stray animals and the role of volunteers in improving their living conditions through sterilization efforts.
The 2025 Spring & Summer Arts and Culture Events at CCU promise an immersive experience that combines artistic beauty with social consciousness. Students, faculty, and the public are warmly invited to take part, exploring the power of artistic creation, the pursuit of self-fulfillment, and the path toward a more animal-friendly society.
