National Chung Cheng University (CCU) and Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar Sign Inter-University Cooperation Agreement to Promote International Education and Research Development
To strengthen international academic cooperation and promote cross-border research, National Chung Cheng University (CCU) held a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding and study abroad program agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) on November 20, 2024. This signing ceremony marks a new milestone in the educational and research collaboration between the two institutions, demonstrating CCU's firm commitment to deepening cooperation with one of India's leading academic institutions.
In July of this year, IIT Gandhinagar’s delegation, led by Dr. Amit Prashant, the Director of R&D, visited Taiwan for the first time. Under the leadership of CCU's Dean of International Affairs, Prof. Der-Hwa Victoria Rau, the delegation met with representatives from CCU’s College of Science and College of Engineering to initiate the first contact between the two universities. Following their return to India, IIT Gandhinagar has actively advanced the process of signing the inter-university agreement, culminating in the formal signing ceremony on November 20, with a delegation led by IIT Gandhinagar’s Director, Prof. Rajat Moona.
On the day of the signing ceremony, CCU President Shaw-Jenq Tsai personally presided over the event. Both universities signed the cooperation agreement and followed it with a discussion session, exploring specific areas of collaboration in the fields of science and engineering.
President Shaw-Jenq Tsai of CCU stated, "This collaboration will deepen the partnership between our universities in research, academic exchange, and student development. Together, we aim to create more research platforms and foster deeper exchanges among faculty and students." Meanwhile, Director Rajat Moona of IIT Gandhinagar emphasized, "There are numerous opportunities for cooperation between our institutions, particularly in areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and IC manufacturing. Additionally, we can share experiences related to industry-academia collaborations between universities, governments, and businesses." In the future, IIT Gandhinagar will also send students to CCU to participate in exchange programs, internship programs, and summer camps, strengthening the international mobility of students.
The signing of this cooperation agreement symbolizes the strong commitment of both universities to international education and research collaboration. It is expected to bring greater development opportunities and influence to the academic communities of both countries.
