Bamboo Resonance: Chung Cheng University Signs MOU with Local Community to Foster Sustainable Development
On November 11, Chung Cheng University hosted its 2024 "Local Sustainable USR Development Exchange Forum" in Gukeng Township, Yunlin County, showcasing its commitment to deep community engagement and social responsibility (USR). Led by Director Lu Lung-Chuan of the USR Office, Chung Cheng’s USR project team attended the event, joined by Secretary-General Hsieh Yu-Chun of Gukeng Mayuan Community, Secretary-General Huang Yuan-Po of the Yunlin County Nanchang Agricultural Processing Cooperative, Shen Rong-Tang, head of Vegetable and Fruit Production and Marketing Class 8, Chairman Tseng Hsu-Cheng of the Mind Ecovillage Association, and Associate Professor Chang Li-Ya from National Chi Nan University. Through in-depth discussions, the event focused on understanding local needs and promoting sustainable development.
During the event, Chung Cheng University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Gukeng Mayuan Community and the Yunlin County Nanchang Agricultural Processing Cooperative, establishing a solid foundation for collaboration to address local needs and promote resource sharing. The university’s "Bamboo Technology Living Lab: Local Revitalization and Talent Development Project" team shared their bamboo waste processing techniques, demonstrating how bamboo resources can be transformed into economically valuable products, offering feasible solutions for agricultural waste management. Additionally, a field visit was organized to showcase bamboo waste processing, allowing participants to observe innovative bamboo utilization techniques and their potential impacts.
Through this exchange forum, Chung Cheng University’s USR team aims to continue developing projects that align with local needs, strengthening ties between the university and the community. Together with Gukeng Mayuan Community and the Nanchang Agricultural Processing Cooperative, the university seeks to realize sustainable development goals, creating long-term value for the local society and economy.
