To celebrate the 35th anniversary of National Chung Cheng University (CCU), alumni from around the world gathered virtually on October 26, 2024, for a warm and nostalgic “CCU Alumni Online Gathering.” The event brought together alumni from Belize, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, and other regions, showcasing CCU’s international influence and providing alumni the chance to reconnect across time zones and share in the joy of their alma mater’s milestone.
The event began with a heartfelt welcome from Priska Pulungan, a CCU alumna and current professor at Satya Wacana Christian University in Indonesia, followed by a congratulatory video from CCU President Shaw-Jenq Tsai. In his message, President Tsai expressed his gratitude to alumni worldwide, saying, “Thank you for your enduring support for CCU. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus in the future to witness our continued growth and transformation.” The Dean of International Affairs, Victoria Rau, then gave a welcome speech, recognizing the contributions of international students to CCU’s vibrant campus culture and applauding their role in fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
During the event, alumni from different countries shared their experiences at CCU and reflected on how their time at the university had shaped their careers. Lissel Martinez, an education officer with the Belize Ministry of Education, said, “My time at CCU laid the foundation for my career, inspiring me to engage in educational reform.” Worapot Yodpet, now with UNESCO in Thailand, remarked, “CCU’s diverse cultural environment taught me the value of openness, a quality that continues to guide me in my professional journey.”
The gathering also included a special video presentation about CCU’s alumni donation program, encouraging alumni to support upgrades to campus facilities and scholarship initiatives, providing current students with enhanced learning opportunities. CCU hopes that, with global alumni support, its students will continue to shine on the international stage.
The event concluded with alumni exchanging well-wishes and taking a group photo, capturing the enduring bonds among CCU alumni. As they look forward to future reunions, CCU expressed its commitment to advancing innovative education and global development, envisioning a bright future in partnership with its worldwide alumni community.
