National Chung Cheng University 35th Anniversary Celebration: Taiwan Ten-Drum Art Percussion Group's "HEROES" Outdoor Concert on October 25th!
To celebrate its 35th anniversary, National Chung Cheng University planned a series of rich and exciting dynamic performance activities this year. On Friday evening, October 25, the eve of the anniversary sports day, the library invited the Taiwan Ten Drum Art Percussion Group from Tainan to present their large-scale concert “HEROES,” which combines percussion and dance, at the outdoor plaza on Phoenix Boulevard (behind the library). This performance showcased magnificent stories of the nation, beautiful women, heroes, and legends through powerful drumming and graceful dance, offering the audience a heart-stirring visual and auditory feast.
To deepen the audience's understanding and resonance with the “HEROES” performance, the library arranged a series of lectures and workshops on the day before the performance, October 24. From 10:00 to 12:00, there was a lecture on percussion, “The overlapping drum sticks gather energy from all directions,” in the CCU library Theater, where the Ten-Drum Art Percussion Group provided an in-depth introduction to the history, techniques, and creative concepts of percussion art. From 15:00 to 18:00, there were three sessions of the “18 Arahans (a Buddhist term meaning ‘worthy ones’) Drum Experience Workshop” on Phoenix Boulevard, allowing participants to personally experience the dynamic charm of drumming through a combination of percussion and fitness exercises, further appreciating the profound essence of this art form.
In order to allow teachers, students, and the public participating in the cultural and artistic exhibitions, sports day, and concerts on October 25 and 26 to enjoy a pleasant time in the campus activities, the library planned a campus food truck market for the first time, inviting a mobile food truck alliance to bring highly-rated community delicacies directly to the campus. While enjoying the performances, the audience could also savor a variety of delicious treats. Those holding tickets for the performance on October 25 could enjoy discounts of $10 on hot food and $5 on beverages at the food truck market, adding more fun to the event.
The large outdoor concert of the Ten-Drum Art Percussion Group's “HEROES” which took place at 19:00 on Friday, October 25, experienced a surge in ticket requests both on and off campus. It attracted many students and the general public to the campus to enjoy the performance. To ensure that the audience could enjoy the performance smoothly, a large screen for live broadcast was set up at the back of the audience area, allowing those in the public art space in the rear of the library to also see the performance on stage.
The series of autumn cultural and artistic activities hosted by the library this fall will inject abundant artistic and cultural energy into the campus, attracting faculty, students, and art enthusiasts from the Yunlin-Chiayi area, as well as community members to participate. Everyone will happily celebrate this golden harvest season, commemorating the important milestone of National Chung Cheng University reaching its 35th anniversary while enjoying a series of rich and exquisite autumn cultural feasts.
