National Chung Cheng University Successfully Holds USR Local Exchange Consensus Meeting, Strengthening Local Ties for Sustainable Development
On October 8, 2024, National Chung Cheng University (CCU) successfully held a University Social Responsibility (USR) Local Exchange Consensus Meeting on campus. The event brought together village chiefs and representatives from Sanxing Village, Fengshou Village, Songshan Village, and the Minhsiung Township Farmers' Association to engage in in-depth discussions on local issues. The meeting aimed to explore how the university could offer its resources and expertise to assist local communities on current challenges and further strengthen ties between the university and the region to achieve shared goals of social responsibility and sustainable development.
The meeting was chaired by CCU Vice President Hung Hsin-Yuan, with Dean of Student Affairs Lu Lung-Chuan and Deputy Dean of Student Affairs Cheng Yang-Yao in attendance. Local representatives included Sanxing Village Chief Chuang Po-Tung, Fengshou Village Chief Chen Cheng-Hsi, Songshan Village representative Chou Chia-Hui, and Minhsiung Township Farmers' Association Director-General Chen Chia-Mao. During the meeting, open and sincere discussions took place regarding the challenges faced by the villages, covering topics such as infrastructure improvements, agricultural development, and community care.
Vice President Hung emphasized that the university is not only a hub for education and research but also a strong support system for local development. Through its USR initiatives, CCU is committed to working hand-in-hand with local communities to address grassroots social issues and apply academic resources to regional development. He noted that the consensus meeting was more than just a platform for dialogue; it was an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and foster collaboration for a sustainable future.
Sanxing Village Chief Chuang highlighted the importance of close collaboration between local governments and the university to unlock rural development potential. Fengshou Village Chief Chen called for innovative solutions to local agricultural production challenges through the university’s expertise. Songshan Village representative Chou expressed hope for continued long-term cooperation, aiming to enhance the village’s economic and social development through the USR initiatives.
The meeting concluded with initial consensus, with CCU committing to take concrete actions to assist in resolving local issues and promoting sustainable development. The university aims to deepen its cooperation with local communities through the USR program, driving regional revitalization and fulfilling its social responsibility.
