Empowering Students for Success: BESTEP Exam Preparation at National Chung Cheng University
To strengthen university students' English proficiency and lay a solid foundation for EMI (English-Medium Instruction) courses, the Language Training and Testing Center (LTTC) has introduced the BESTEP Exam (Bilingual Education Student Empowerment Program). In response to this newly launched exam, National Chung Cheng University's EMI Resource Promotion Center, in collaboration with the Colleges of Engineering, Management, and Education, has organized six test preparation workshops in September and October.
Dr. Gina Wen-Chun Chen, Director of the University EMI Resource Promotion Center, noted that students have demonstrated a high level of interest in the BESTEP Exam, with many excelling and receiving the "Elite Award" (equivalent to CEFR B2 or above) from LTTC. As new students embark on their college journey in an increasingly EMI-driven academic environment, the BESTEP exam serves as a key benchmark for evaluating their English proficiency.
Due to high enthusiasm, student demand has exceeded the available registration capacity. In response, the university has requested additional slots and has launched six preparatory workshops. Led by experienced language instructors, the workshops offer one-on-one tutoring, real exam simulation, and tips to boost students' performance.
The BESTEP exam integrates academic and campus communication scenarios, allowing students to identify and improve their weaknesses in English, thereby gaining greater confidence in an EMI learning environment. With the university’s strong support for language proficiency and the increasing number of EMI courses as well as international exchanges, National Chung Cheng University aims to become a leading international institution in southern Taiwan. For further information on the upcoming workshops, students can check out related information on the website of EMI Promotion Center.
