National Chung Cheng University's First Interdisciplinary Alumni "Fifty Plus Life Class Reunion" gathered over 70 alumni to reminisce
At the dawn of the New Year, National Chung Cheng University (CCU) marks its
35th anniversary since its establishment. In honor of our alma mater's nurturing and to
reminisce about the wonderful years we shared during the early days of its founding,
the inaugural cohort of undergraduate alumni from various departments organized the
"Fifty Plus Life Class Reunion" on the 6th. Over 70 alumni and their families walked
down memory lane, revisiting the campus moments of their youth.
Thirty-four years ago, the area where CCU stands was still barren land. In the blink of
an eye, it's now 2024, and it has nurtured over 70,000 alumni who are now shining in
various fields. The "Fifty Plus Life Class Reunion" kicked off at 1 p.m. on the 6th,
igniting the entire campus with a joyful atmosphere as alumni gathered. Crossing
through time, they shared the bits and pieces of their university life. Wu, the overall
coordinator of the event and a member of the first graduating class from the
Department of Foreign Languages and Literature (FLLD) at CCU, expressed that the
first cohort of undergraduate alumni grew up alongside their alma mater. After 34
years, as they entered middle age and achieved success in their careers and families,
they decided to organize this reunion together with several alumni from different
departments to coincide with the university's 35th anniversary.
This reunion featured a special fellowship sports game where alumni, donning sports
gear, set aside the pressures of adulthood to rediscover the vitality of their youth.
Alumni from different eras competed with each other on the sports field, filling the
gymnasium with laughter and cheers echoing throughout. Following the games, the
banquet brought another wave of excitement. Aside from the delicious local delicacies
from Minxiong township, which stirred fond memories of university days, alumni
also brought back memories through their moving voices, singing one classic song
after another, each carrying their own youthful melody. After today's activities
concluded, some alumni chose to stay overnight at the Tsu-Yuan Building (CCU
guest house), savoring the serene campus moments of yesteryears, becoming a unique
experience of this reunion.
Through this reunion, not only did CCU invite early alumni to revisit our alma mater,
to appreciate the changes the campus has undergone over the years, but also to bring
alumni closer together. At the event, many alumni shared their feelings about this
gathering, each expressing profound emotions and cherishing the bond of friendship.
"This reunion is truly amazing! Seeing so many long-lost companions again makes
me feel the warmth and deep fellowship of the campus," exclaimed one alumni who
traveled from afar. Wu expressed, "Today, I especially flew back from Sweden to
participate in this event. I am grateful to all the alumni who participated and express
my heartfelt gratitude for everyone's enthusiastic response. This reunion will become
a memorable moment in the history of CCU and a new milestone in the fellowship
among alumni.
