National Chung Cheng University joins hands with the Chiayi City Government to initiate a LINE project, implementing the Digital Placemaking Initiative

publish date : 2023-09-25

In recent years, issues related to ESG and local revitalization have gained attention
from various sectors such as the government, universities, and industries. On October
25th, LINE proposed a digital revitalization practical camp in collaboration with the
StartUp Land at National Chung Cheng University (CCU). The program focuses on
the business district in Chiayi City, harnessing students' creativity to enhance the
digital capabilities of local small enterprises. The goal is to stimulate the local
business district, encourage youth to stay or return to their hometowns, and achieve
sustainable urban-rural development.
The StartUp Land at CCU emphasizes its long-term commitment to local engagement,
connecting with the abundant local foundation, and nurturing the creative and
proactive energy of numerous students. By the end of August, a total of 34 students
from various departments within CCU submitted their resumes. After a competitive
selection process, including initial screening, document review, and interviews,
students from the Institute of Business Administration, Department of Labor
Relations, Institute of Communication, Institute of Marketing, and the Department of
Business Administration successfully obtained the qualification for participation in
the "LINE Fresh 2023" digital revitalization practical camp.
LINE Taiwan's CEO, Roger Chen, remarked, "Chiayi City is particularly rich in
fertile soil, local customs, and human stories full of hope." In order to expand the
scale of student participation in practical experiences and continuously enhance the
digital capabilities of more small and medium-sized businesses, LINE FRESH is
injecting young creativity and contributions. In 2023, it has evolved from a campus
competition format to a more in-depth exploration of local issues and a more
comprehensive integration of resources through the "Digital Revitalization Practical
Camp" model.
StartUp Land at CCU expresses that, in collaboration with LINE, the teams are
moving towards the goal of sustainable development in the local community. Selected
students for the project will undergo training from LINE Taiwan mentors and industry
experts over the next two months, focusing on learning project planning and
community management skills. Additionally, they will explore the Jhuluo business
district and the cultural business district in Chiayi City, engaging directly with the
field to build a solid foundation of practical industry experience.
Shin-Yuan Hung, the director of CCU Start-up Land, highlights that the collaboration
with LINE Taiwan serves as an exemplary case of mutual benefit and prosperity
among businesses, universities, and local communities. In the future, there will be a
continuous effort to bring in media and corporate resources, align them with local
needs, and provide more practical opportunities for the students of CCU. This aligns
with the principles of social, university, and corporate sustainable development. At the
end of this year, a large-scale exhibition will be organized in collaboration with LINE
Taiwan and the Chiayi City government to showcase their four-month practical
results.
